Lyophobic heterogeneous systems, based on porous fluids made of ordered nanoporous particles immersed in a non-wetting liquid, constitute systems of interest for exploring wetting, drying, and coupled transport phenomena in nanometric confinement. To date, most experimental studies on the forced filling and spontaneous emptying of lyophobic nanometric pores, at pressures of several tens of MPa, have been conducted in a quasi-static regime. However, some studies have shown that dynamical measurements are essential to shed light on the rich physics of these phenomena.

Aerosol and aqueous particles are ubiquitous in Earth's atmosphere and play key roles in geochemical processes such as natural chemical cycles, cloud and fog formation, air pollution, visibility, climate forcing, etc. The surface tension of atmospheric particles can affect their size distribution, condensational growth, evaporation, and exchange of chemicals with the atmosphere, which, in turn, are important in the above-mentioned geochemical processes. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are of increasing concern due to their pervasive nature, high persistence, and their impacts on human health and the environment. Many studies have attempted to assess the presence of PFAS along the water cycle, but few have analyzed rainwater PFAS content and its contribution to water contamination. Bickerstaff brainstem encephalitis, Miller-Fisher syndrome and Guillain-Barré syndrome are related conditions and are now considered as part of a continuous clinical spectrum. In this report, we describe the case of a 24-year-old female patient showing paraparesis rapidly evolving into flaccid tetraparesis, areflexia, ophthalmoplegia, drowsiness, cognitive impairment and memory loss leading to the diagnosis of Bickerstaff brainstem encephalitis and Guillain-Barré syndrome overlap. With this example, we emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary rehabilitation care.
