Periosteal Electrical Dry Needling as an Adjunct to Exercise and Manual Therapy for Knee Osteoarthritis: A Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial.

Objectives: To compare the effects of adding electrical dry needling into a manual therapy (MT) and exercise program on pain, stiffness, function, and disability in individuals with painful knee osteoarthritis (OA).

Materials And Methods: In total, 242 participants (n=242) with painful knee OA were randomized to receive 6 weeks of electrical dry needling, MT, and exercise (n=121) or MT and exercise (n=121). The primary outcome was related-disability as assessed by the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC) Osteoarthritis Index at 3 months.

Hybrid external fixation in the treatment of tibial pilon fractures: A retrospective analysis of 162 fractures.

Objectives: To determine the efficacy of hybrid external fixation in the treatment of tibial pilon fractures.

Design: Retrospective, multicentre study.

Patients/participants: Adult patients with tibial pilon fractures treated with hybrid external fixation.

Heel displaced intra-articular fractures treated with mini-calcaneal external fixator.

Introduction: Treatment of displaced heel fractures is controversial; however, ORIF is widely described in the literature to be the gold-standard. Percutaneous reduction and monolateral external fixation is gaining increasing attention because it provides a good and stable reduction, and minimises soft tissue complications due to open surgery, such as deep infections and delays in wound healing. The aim of this study was to show that the new Orthofix Calcaneal Minifixator (six pins) provides a greater stability than the four-pin version to enable a better and more stable reduction, an earlier weight-bearing (30 days) and improved functional outcomes.

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma of the facial bone.

The epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is an uncommon vascular neoplasm. Numerous sites of involvement are possible, but these tumors most commonly arise in the soft tissues, liver, and lung. We report a case of epithelioid hemangioendothelioma presenting as a single lesion on the nasal portion of the maxilla.

Description of columellar defects and its tridimensional remedial techniques.

Columella is an important facial component and provides support and projection to the tip of the nose. Columella defects may cause significant aesthetic and functional deformities. We present our case-load of 2007: 61 patients operated in that year had been carried out and concluded.
