The authors conducted clinical and anatomical study of 207 gallbladders removed for chronic calculous cholecystitis. In 29% of cases the structural changes in the gallbladder had the character of hyperplastic and hypertrophic processes with the formation of polyps and moderate sclerosis of the wall. In 40% of cases the process showed a tendency towards sclerosis and atrophy from the very beginning.
