Minimum Effective Dose (ED and ED) of Intrathecal Hyperbaric Bupivacaine for Cesarean Delivery: A Systematic Review.

Lowering the dose of the local anesthesia significantly reduces the risks of spinal anesthesia-induced hypotension in an elective cesarean delivery. Determination of the mean effective dose of hyperbaric bupivacaine will aid clinicians in managing maternal hypotension. The systematic search of studies evaluating the mean effective dose of hyperbaric bupivacaine yielded 10 clinical trials reporting the minimum effective dose in 50% (ED) and 95% (ED) of patients.

RELATIONSHIP OF PRESEASON MOVEMENT SCREENS WITH OVERUSE SYMPTOMS IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL PLAYERS.

Background: The shoulder mobility screen of the Functional Movement Screen™ (FMS™) and the upper extremity patterns of the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) assess global, multi-joint movement capabilities in the upper-extremities. Identifying which assessment can most accurately determine if baseball players are at an increased risk of experiencing overuse symptoms in the shoulder or elbow throughout a competitive season may reduce throwing-related injuries requiring medical attention.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine if preseason FMS™ or SFMA scores were related to overuse severity scores in the shoulder or elbow during the preseason and competitive season.

Using the Barnes Language Assessment with older ethnic minority groups.

Objective: There are many issues concerning the assessment of older people from ethnic minority groups, the most significant being the language barrier experienced by those whose English is an additional language (EAL). This study aimed to test the hypothesis that EAL participants would score less well than those with English as a first language (EFL) on the sub-tests of the Barnes Language Assessment (BLA), elucidate the reasons for any such differences and discuss the implications.

Methods: The Barnes Language Assessment (BLA) is an accurate tool providing information about expected patterns of language in different dementia syndromes.
