We study a phase diagram for the sliding Luttinger liquid (SLL) of coupled one-dimensional quantum wires packed in a two-dimensional array in the absence of a magnetic field. We analyse whether the nearest-neighbour inter-wire interactions, stabilise the SLL phase. We construct an analogue of a Su-Schriefer-Heeger (SSH) model (allowing alternating couplings between wires).

We revise a phase diagram for the sliding Luttinger liquid (SLL) of coupled one-dimensional quantum wires packed in two- or three-dimensional arrays in the absence of a magnetic field. We analyse whether physically justifiable (reasonable) inter-wire interactions, i.e.

We describe a coherence-based imaging technique based on degenerate four-wave mixing in two materials. First, a 45 degrees -cut BaTiO(3) crystal was used as a self-pumped phase conjugator to obtain depth-resolved images through a 4 mean-free-path (mfp) scattering media. In addition, an HITC dye-doped K15 liquid-crystal layer was used to provide single-shot image acquisition through a 2 mfp scattering media.

We consider the process of light scattering by optical solitons in a planar waveguide with homogeneous and inhomogeneous refractive index cores. We observe resonant reflection (Fano resonances) as well as resonant transmission of light by optical solitons. All resonant effects can be controlled in experiment by changing the soliton intensity.

The knowledge about discrete quantum breathers, accumulated during the last two decades, is reviewed. "Prehistory" of the problem is described and some important properties differentiating localized and extended vibrational modes are outlined. The state of art of our understanding of the principal features of the quantum discrete breathers is presented.
