Methods for the Synthesis of γ-Acetopropyl Alcohol.

The methods for the synthesis of γ-acetopropyl alcohol (APA) used for the production of vitamin B, antimalarial drugs, and polymers are analyzed. Promising APS synthesis methods are the hydrogenation-hydration of sylvane, the hydrogenation of furfural, and syntheses based on allyl acetate, sodium acetoacetic ester, and γ-butyrolactone.

[Vitamin supply of premature infants with intracranial birth injuries fed in different ways].

A total of 136 premature infants with intracranial birth trauma were studied during the first 2 months of life for vitamin B, C, A and carotinoid supply with regard to their body mass at birth and type of feeding. Premature children with different patterns of birth trauma showed low supply with thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin A in the presence of breast feeding. Combined feeding raised the supply of the children under observation with thiamine and riboflavin.

[Vitamin status of premature infants in the 1st 2 months of life on natural feeding].

Fifty premature neonates were followed during the first 2 months of life to study the supply of the body with vitamins A, B6, ascorbic acid, riboflavin, thiamine, niacin and carotenoids with regard to the body weight upon birth and prematurity grade. The children were kept on natural feeding (donor's breast milk). Premature neonates were found to be short of individual vitamins during certain periods of life.

[B group and ascorbic acid vitamin allowance of the therapeutic rations of phenylketonuria patients].

The allowance of the vitamin group B and ascorbic acid in specialized rations for children suffering from phenylketonuria was studied. A significant deficiency in a number of the study vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxine, niacin, ascorbic acid) was detected, this being confirmed by the excretary findings. Inclusion of protein-free and of products enriched with vitamins in the ration could not fully correct the diet as concerns the study vitamins.

[Characteristics of the vitamin status and of the individual indices of mineral metabolism and catecholamines in the students of sports colleges].

Materials derived from a study on the allowances of the organism of the physical culture institutes students of different sporting specialties (wrestling, cycling, light athletics, heavy athletics) of individual vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, PP, C) and also results of investigations of the diurnal excretion with urine in them of sodium, potassium, as well as the catecholamines metabolism rates (epinephrine, norepinephrine, DOPA and dopamine) are presented.
