Intermetallic porous SHS-TiNi alloys exhibit tangled and specific stress-strain characteristics. This article aims to evaluate the findings emanating from experiments using standard and proprietary instruments. We studied therapeutic activity of co-transplantation of allogeneic pancreatic islet cells and mesenchymal bone marrow progenitors on TiNi scaffolds in Wistar rats with experimental alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus. In preliminary experiments with co-culturing of cells in different proportions followed by their transplantation on tissue-engineered constructs, the optimum ratio of these cells was determined - 3:1. Regeneration was assessed by biochemical methods by the blood levels of glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin on days 15, 30, and 5.

The dynamics of the development of the pancreatic islet cells in the porous TiNi scaffold was studied by electron microscopy. Changes in the metabolism of glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin and parameters of the peripheral blood and bone marrow were shown after transplantation of pancreatic islet cells on porous permeable TiNi scaffold during alloxan-induced diabetes. The cells administered on the porous biocompatible scaffold produced more prolonged anti-diabetic effect and normalized hemopoiesis parameters in comparison with their intraperitoneal administration.

Secreted alpha-toxin and surface-localized clumping factor A (ClfA) are key virulence determinants in bloodstream infections. We previously demonstrated that prophylaxis with a multimechanistic monoclonal antibody (MAb) combination against alpha-toxin (MEDI4893*) and ClfA (11H10) provided greater strain coverage and improved efficacy in an lethal bacteremia model. Subsequently, 11H10 was found to exhibit reduced affinity and impaired inhibition of fibrinogen binding to ClfA002 expressed by members of a predominant hospital-associated methicillin-resistant (MRSA) clone, ST5.

We studied the structure of porous permeable titanium nickelide used as the scaffold. In vitro population of the porous scaffold with multipotent mesenchymal stem bone marrow cells on days 7, 14, 21, and 28 was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. Stage-by-stage histogenesis of the tissues formed from the bone marrow cells in the titanium nickelide scaffold in vivo is described in detail.
