CDCA7-associated global aberrant DNA hypomethylation translates to localized, tissue-specific transcriptional responses.

Disruption of cell division cycle associated 7 (CDCA7) has been linked to aberrant DNA hypomethylation, but the impact of DNA methylation loss on transcription has not been investigated. Here, we show that CDCA7 is critical for maintaining global DNA methylation levels across multiple tissues in vivo. A pathogenic missense variant leads to the formation of large, aberrantly hypomethylated domains overlapping with the B genomic compartment but without affecting the deposition of H3K9 trimethylation (H3K9me3).

Maternal effect senescence, a decline in offspring viability with maternal age, has been documented across diverse animals, but its mechanisms remain largely unknown. Here, we test maternal effect senescence and explore its possible molecular mechanisms in a fish. We compared the levels of maternal mRNA transcripts of DNA repair genes and mtDNA copies in eggs and the levels of DNA damage in somatic and germline tissues between young and old female sticklebacks.

Cognition and social cognition anomalies in patients with bipolar disorder (BD) and schizophrenia (SCZ) have been largely documented, but the degree of overlap between the two disorders remains unclear in this regard. We used machine learning to generate and combine two classifiers based on cognitive and socio-cognitive variables, thus delivering unimodal and multimodal signatures aimed at discriminating BD and SCZ from two independent groups of Healthy Controls (HC1 and HC2 respectively). Multimodal signatures discriminated well between patients and controls in both the HC1-BD and HC2-SCZ cohorts.
