NEET status among young Greeks: Association with mental health and substance use.

Background: Prior studies have shown that young people "not in education, employment or training" ("NEET") are at higher risk for psychopathology and substance abuse. Similar studies are lacking in Southern European populations. We aimed to examine the associations of anxiety and depressive symptoms, and substance use with NEET status in a large, randomized population-based sample in Greece.

Validation of TICS for detection of dementia and mild cognitive impairment among individuals characterized by low levels of education or illiteracy: a population-based study in rural Greece.

Objective: The efficacy of the most widely used tests for dementia screening is limited in populations characterized by low levels of education. This study aimed to validate the face-to-face administered Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status (TICS) for detection of dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in a population-based sample of community dwelling individuals characterized by low levels of education or illiteracy in rural Greece.

Methods: The translated Greek version of TICS was administered through face-to-face interview in 133 elderly residents of Velestino of low educational level (<12 years).

Readiness for and predictors of evidence base practice in Greek healthcare settings.

Background: Implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP) remains limited in healthcare settings and knowledge of predictors of healthcare professionals' EBP activities is lacking.

Aim: Describe nurses' readiness for EBP and identify related predictors in Greek healthcare settings we conducted a survey.

Results: Nurses scored high in the EBP readiness scale reflecting significant positive readiness toward EBP and consistently reported favourable attitudes toward and beliefs about EBP.
