[Pancreatoduodenal resection in treatment of cancer of pancreatic head and periampullar zone].

Results of 120 pancreatoduodenal resections are analyzed. Early postoperative period complications were seen in 51 (42.5%) patients.

[Acupuncture in the combined treatment of pyelonephritis].

In the treatment of pyelonephritis which continues to cause problems in practical uronephrology, the main efforts of the clinicians are now directed at enhancement of the patients resistance, improvement of renal blood flow and urodynamics. Acupuncture (AP) is thought capable to meet the above requirements. It was used in combined treatment of 102 pyelonephritis cases (51 with acute and 51 with chronic manifestations) showing intact renal function.

[Anemia in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing systematic hemodialysis treatment].

A study of 24 patients with chronic renal failure and varying degrees of uremia and clinical symptoms was carried out in order to assess the mechanisms of anemia developing in patients on systematic hemodialysis for chronic renal failure. Blood clinical and biochemical parameters were evaluated. Sternal bone marrow puncture was performed to assess erythron status.

[A device for determining erythrocyte deformability].

A device for determining red cell deformability is described. The studies have demonstrated that in normal subjects the red cell deformability is sufficiently high and the cells penetrate through a filter with pore diameter of 5 microns, whereas in the patients with chronic renal insufficiency this parameter is reduced (p less than 0.001).
