This study aims to determine the effectiveness of administering 80 ppm nitric oxide in reducing kidney injury, mitochondrial dysfunction and regulated cell death in kidneys during experimental perfusion. Twenty-four sheep were randomized into four groups: two groups received 80 ppm NO conditioning with 90 min of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB + NO) or 90 min of CPB and hypothermic circulatory arrest (CPB + CA + NO), while two groups received sham protocols (CPB and CPB + CA). Kidney injury was assessed using laboratory (neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, an acute kidney injury biomarker) and morphological methods (morphometric histological changes in kidney biopsy specimens).

Article Synopsis
  • Post-COVID-19 syndrome (PS) affects 10-20% of COVID-19 patients, and the study explores the potential benefits of inhaling a combination of nitric oxide (iNO) and molecular hydrogen (iH) for those experiencing respiratory issues related to PS.
  • In a study involving 34 patients, those who received iNO/iH treatments showed significant improvements in symptoms like dyspnea, cough, and fatigue, along with enhanced scores in quality of life assessments and walking distance compared to the control group.
  • Results indicated a reduction in oxidative damage and improved blood flow, suggesting that combined inhalation therapy may be a safe and effective treatment option for alleviating respiratory manifestations in

This review presents experimental studies of phenomena occurring in droplets of various liquids under the effect of nanosecond spark discharges. Inorganic liquids and liquids of biological origin are considered here. Attention is payed to hydrodynamic and physico-chemical phenomena in droplets, including a movement of sessile droplets on a substrate under the effect of the discharges, internal flows in droplets (excited by the discharges), plasma capillary phenomena, features of the droplets drying under the effect of the discharges, traces (patterns) left by the droplets, exposed to the discharges, on the substrates etc.

Portable autonomous generator of high-power RF-pulses based on the gas discharge with hollow cathode has been designed, fabricated, and tested. Input and output characteristics are the following: discharge current amplitude is 800 A, duration of generated RF-pulses is 350 ns, carrier frequency is ∼90 MHz, power in RF-pulse is 0.5 MW, pulse repetition rate is 0.

We studied the influence of NO-containing gas phase on some parameters of energy metabolism in human erythrocytes. Whole blood samples were aerated with gas flows from the Plazon instrument (NO concentrations 800 and 80 ppm) and from the experimental generator (75 ppm). Activity of lactate dehydrogenase in direct and reverse reactions, lactate level, and a number of derived coefficients were estimated.
