Objectives: To assess the real-world efficacy and safety of recombinant factor IX albumin fusion protein (rIX-FP) in patients with hemophilia B (HB) in France.

Methods: Data on dosing frequency, weekly consumption, and bleeds before-and-after switching to rIX-FP, were collected from December 2021 to February 2024. Annualized (spontaneous) bleeding rates [A(s)BRs] were calculated only in patients on prophylaxis with a follow-up ≥ 6 months.

Cryopreservation of rainbow trout semen under field conditions was analyzed. Straw location over liquid nitrogen level is a crucial variable that affects freezing rate and fertilization yield due to changes in nitrogen vapor external temperature. The objectives were: to analyze cryopreservation protocols by experimentally measuring the cooling rates and fertilization yield of 0.

Article Synopsis
  • Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder, but data on how patients are treated during hospitalizations is limited.
  • A study named Hopscotch-WILL looked at 988 VWD patients over four years to understand their treatment and factors driving the use of coagulation factors during hospital stays.
  • Results showed that 15% of patients were hospitalized needing von Willebrand factor treatment, with low levels of VWF and FVIII being significant, and usage varied based on VWD type and the reason for hospitalization.

This study aimed to develop a non-invasive and efficient method for measuring and identifying individual seahorses (Hippocampus patagonicus) in their natural habitat. A total of 976 seahorses were captured and photographed on a measuring board to obtain standard length (L) measurements. Head photographs were also taken for individual recognition, and a set of 100 seahorses were tagged with visible implant elastomers (VIE) to verify the correspondence between photograph recognition and the applied tags.

Article Synopsis
  • Turoctocog alfa, a Factor VIII replacement therapy, was evaluated for its effectiveness in patients with hemophilia A undergoing surgery, using data from a national database.
  • The study analyzed 86 surgeries (49 major and 37 minor) across 56 patients, revealing a high overall clinical efficacy of 89.5%, with minimal complications.
  • Results showed that patients with mild hemophilia required fewer infusions and lower doses than those with severe hemophilia, and no significant adverse events or complications occurred during the procedures.
