In preclinical studies, p53 loss of function impacts chemotherapy response, but this has not been consistently validated clinically. We trained a TP53-loss phenocopy gene expression signature from pan-cancer clinical samples in the TCGA. In vitro, the TP53-loss phenocopy signature predicted chemotherapy response across cancer types.

Introduction: Little is known about facilitators and barriers to smoking cessation among Hispanics seeking treatment. This secondary analysis examined attributions for abstinence or smoking among participants in a nationwide randomized controlled trial testing a self-help smoking cessation intervention among Spanish-speaking Hispanics in the United States (US).

Methods: At each follow-up assessment (6, 12, 18, and 24 months), participants (N = 1,417) responded to open-ended items regarding reasons for either abstinence or smoking.

Background: Blood transfusion safety is based on reliable donor screening for transmissible infections such as the hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.

Study Design And Methods: A novel HCV core-specific antibody was assayed on random single donations from 2007 first-time blood donors who tested negative for anti-HCV and HCV RNA on routine screening. Sample collection broke the code between donations and donors for ethical reasons.
