Introduction: This Italian multicenter retrospective study evaluated safety and efficacy of the anti-TNF drug, adalimumab, in a cohort of patients affected by tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease affecting around 3% of the Italian population and associated with several comorbidities, including arthritis, cardio-metabolic diseases and depression. In its moderate-to-severe form, psoriasis profoundly impairs quality of life of patients.

Resistance can be the result of secondary tissue variants (STVs), which restore the open reading frame of the germline BRCA allele, producing functional BRCA protein in germline BRCA1/2 (BRCA) pathogenic variant (PV) carriers, treated with platinum-based chemotherapy or poly-(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARP-1). We reported recently a BRCA2 mutant high grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) patient with acquired resistance to the PARP-1 olaparib due to a STV detected by next generation tumor sequencing (NGTS). The aim of this study was to evaluate the versatility of the high-resolution melting analysis (HRMA) obtained by magnetic induction cycler (MIC) to monitor the BRCA2 status in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples of this patient and to compare the results obtained by NGTS.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the prevalence of specific bacteria in the Sardinian pig production chain, focusing on the monophasic serovariant of Typhimurium using advanced molecular methods like real-time PCR and multiplex PCR.
  • A total of 166 samples were taken from various locations, including slaughterhouses and meat processing plants, with a breakdown of different types of samples, such as pig tissue and meat preparations.
  • Results showed that 7 out of 166 samples (4.22%) tested positive for the target bacteria, with the identified strains confirming the presence of Typhimurium and its monophasic variant.

Background: Consensus among dermatologists and rheumatologists in the diagnosis and assessment of musculoskeletal diseases in psoriasis (PsO) patients is needed. This study assesses characteristics of musculoskeletal pain in patients with PsO for the presence of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and evaluation of a novel 16-item visual instrument (PsA-Disk).

Methods: Data were collected from eight dermatological/rheumatological centres across Italy.

Background: Migraine is associated with many debilitating symptoms that affect daily functioning. My Migraine Voice is a large global cross-sectional study aimed at understanding the full burden and impact of migraine directly from patients suffering from ≥4 monthly migraine days (MMDs) with a history of prophylactic treatment failure.

Methods: This study was conducted worldwide (31 countries across North and South Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region) using an online survey administered to adults with migraine who reported ≥4 MMDs in the 3 months preceding survey administration, with pre-specified criteria of 90% having used preventive migraine treatment (80% with history of ≥1 treatment failure).
