Natural incidence of zearalenone in Croatian pig feed, urine and meat in 2014.

The aim of this study was to determine the levels of zearalenone (ZEN) in different feed materials and feedstuffs for pigs, as well as in pig urine and pig meat following contaminated feed consumption. In total, 253 feed material and feedstuff samples were collected from Croatian pig farms. The results revealed the presence of ZEN in significant concentrations, the maximal being found in maize (5522 µg/kg), wheat (3366 µg/kg) and pig fattening feed (1949 µg/kg).

Are nurse presenteeism and patient safety culture associated: a cross-sectional study.

Working as a nurse involves great dedication and sacrifice: working night shifts, working overtime, and coming to work sick. The last is also known as presenteeism. Research has shown that poor nurse performance can affect both caregiver's and patient's safety.

Development of a Croatian version of the US Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture questionnaire: dimensionality and psychometric properties.

Background: The Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC), originally developed in the USA, is used worldwide to assess patient safety culture in hospitals. A limited number of studies have provided data on psychometric properties outside of the US healthcare system. Our aim was to determine if all 12 dimensions of the US HSOPSC were applicable, valid and reliable to Croatian healthcare workers.

The use of assessment tools in a sample of Croatian professional fire-fighters.

Background: This article aims at testing of psychometric characteristics of the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Defense Style Questionnaire - 40 (DSQ-40) in a sample of Croatian professional fire-fighters, so as to justify their use in Occupational Health. A pioneer effort to interrelate mental states and psychological job demands, ranked using the WAI questionnaire, was made as well.

[Indicators of health status and psychomotor abilities in pyrotechnists].

Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the relationship of age, psychomotor (oculomotor) functions and parameters indicating overall neuroticism with clinical findings and level of gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT).

Subjects And Methods: The study included 100 male subjects, mean age 37 (range 25-62) years, pyrotechnists by occupation. Results recorded on their pre-employment visit and four subsequent regular annual visits are presented.
