Despite evidence linking the gut microbiome to neuropathic pain (NP), it is not known if altering gut microbiota can alleviate NP via the microbiome-gut-brain axis. This study examined if healthy gut microbiota of sham male rats (Sham+V) and dysbiotic gut microbiota of NP rats (spinal nerve ligation: NP, SNL+V) can be disrupted and restored, respectively, via fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) from the opposite group [Sham+(SNL-FMT) and SNL+(Sham-FMT), respectively]. All groups received FMT daily for two weeks, followed by three weeks without FMT.

Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by episodic swelling, arising from genetic deficiency in C1-esterase inhibitor (C1INH), a regulator of several proteases including activated Plasma kallikrein (Pka). Many existing C1INH treatments exhibit short circulatory half-lives, precluding prophylactic use. Hexahistidine-tagged truncated C1INH (trC1INH lacking residues 1-97) with Mutated N-linked Glycosylation Sites N216Q/N231Q/N330Q (H6-trC1INH(MGS)), its murine serum albumin (MSA) fusion variant (H6-trC1INH(MGS)-MSA), and H6-MSA were expressed in Pichia pastoris and purified via nickel-chelate chromatography.

The investigation of excited-state intramolecular charge transfer (ESICT) has been a fascinating area of research. Although the ESICT events have been studied mostly for -disubstituted donor-acceptor type molecules, the -oriented donor-acceptor type molecules have also shown tremendous potential as ESICT active molecules. The present study describes photophysical properties of 3-(benzo[]oxazol-2-yl)-5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (HBOB) and ()-2-(benzo[]oxazol-2-yl)-4-bromo-6-(hydrazonomethyl)phenol (HBON) molecules with asymmetric two-way proton transfer sites. The purpose of this study is to know the direction of ESIPT out of the two-way proton transfer pathways in these molecules in both the solid and solution state. The steady state and time-resolved spectral behaviour of HBOB and HBON and a comparison of the spectral features with the two distinct control compounds 2-(benzo[]oxazol-2-yl)-4-bromophenol (HBO) and ()-4-bromo-2-(hydrazonomethyl)phenol (HBN) having single 6-membered hydrogen bonded network reveal that HBOB undergoes imine-amine photoisomerisation by proton transfer towards the oxazole side and HBON undergoes towards the hydrazone side with characteristic Stokes' shifted emission.

Ecallantide comprises Kunitz Domain 1 of Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor, mutated at seven amino acid positions to inhibit plasma kallikrein (PK). It is used to treat acute hereditary angioedema (HAE). We appended hexahistidine tags to the N- or C-terminus of recombinant Ecallantide (rEcall) and expressed and purified the resulting proteins, with or without fusion to human serum albumin (HSA), using Pichia pastoris.
