Article Synopsis
  • TikTok gained popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to an analysis of vaccine-related videos on the platform, focusing on both high-engagement content and those from vaccine skeptics.
  • Researchers analyzed 754 Top Videos and 180 Vaccine Sceptics' videos from January 2020 to March 2021, revealing that the majority of Top Videos (40.5%) supported vaccines, while over 95% of skeptic videos were discouraging.
  • The study found that vaccine promotion often came from healthcare professionals, with common themes including herd immunity; meanwhile, skeptic videos tended to focus on conspiracy theories and personal freedom, indicating a potential lower level of affective polarization on TikTok compared to other platforms.

In Brazil, transgender people are most affected by HIV, and crack cocaine addiction may contribute to social vulnerability and exposure to sexual and violence-related risks. This cross-sectional study comprised 2393 individuals seeking addiction treatment, consisting of 43 trans women, 1995 cisgender men, and 355 cisgender women. Records of rapid test results for HIV and syphilis and screening responses of trans women were compared to both cisgender groups using a logistic regression model to identify associated risk factors.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the reaction to the procedural pain of preterm newborn and to demonstrate the different effectiveness of the two analgesic and not pharmacological techniques of recent clinical acquisition, the use of glucose solution and the sensorial saturation, in order to identify an optimal strategy for the prevention and pain treatment.

Methods: We take a sample of 28 preterm newborns of 30-35 weeks. The subjects are divided in two randomized groups following the kind of analgesia used during the hematic sample from heel: the first group (group A) included 14 subjects, who received glucose solution associated to no nutritive suction; the second group (group B) included 14 subjects who received the sensorial saturation.
