Association between benzodiazepine outpatient treatment and risk of early seizure recurrence in emergency patients with seizure: A multicenter retrospective study.

Introduction: Seizures are one of the most common neurological reasons for emergency department (ED) visits. The benefit of ED-initiated, short-course outpatient benzodiazepine (BZD) treatment to prevent early recurrent seizure is unknown. This study assesses the risk of early seizure recurrence in patients who were or were not started with outpatient BZD in the ED.

Influence of multiscale and curved structures on the migration of stem cells.

Understanding how topographical cues can control cell behavior is a major fundamental question which is of particular interest for implant design. Recent findings show that cell-scale curvature, as well as nanoscale topography, can affect different aspects of cell migration. However, the correlation between specific curvature radii and cell behavior, as well as the combinatorial effect of nanoscale topography and cell-scale curvature, has not yet been investigated.

Femtosecond laser ablation of polypropylene: A statistical approach of morphological data.

We have investigated femtosecond (fs) laser (130 fs, 800 nm, 5 kHz) ablation of polypropylene (PP). The following laser process conditions were varied: power density and number of pulses. The morphological parameters' response (depth, ablation diameter, ablation volume) to the laser process conditions, measured by an optical profiler, was investigated by the statistical analysis technique to determine the relationship between them.

Analysis of organic volatile residues in 9 mm spent cartridges.

Determining the time since discharge of spent cartridges found on a crime scene may be very useful in firearm investigations. The potential of small calibre munitions was barely studied in the past and this work did therefore focus on that problematic. The first step was to optimise the detection potential of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) followed by gas chromatography coupled to a mass spectrometry detector (GC/MS).
