Salvage radiotherapy with volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for recurrent prostate cancer after high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU): A large French retrospective series and literature review.

Background And Purpose: Although not validated as a standard treatment, high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is increasingly used in the management of localised prostate cancer (PCa). In case of recurrence after HIFU, treatment is currently not standardised. Our aim was to evaluate normofractionated (NFRT) and hypofractionated (HFRT) salvage radiotherapy (RT) using volumetric modulated arc therapy (s-VMAT) with doses used in first-line management of localised PCa.

A glucocorticoid spike derails muscle repair to heterotopic ossification after spinal cord injury.

Why severe injury to the central nervous system (CNS) triggers the development of large neurogenic heterotopic ossifications (NHOs) within periarticular muscles remains unknown. We report that spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers a rapid corticosterone spike in mice, which is causal for NHO development because treatments with corticosterone or the synthetic glucocorticoid (GC) receptor (GR) agonist dexamethasone are sufficient to trigger heterotopic ossification and upregulate the expression of osteoinductive and osteogenic differentiation genes in injured muscles even without SCI. The central role for GR signaling in causing NHO is further demonstrated in mice deleted for the GR gene (Nr3c1), which no longer develop NHO after SCI.

Therapeutic Maintenance of Janus Kinase Inhibitors in Real Life for Rheumatoid Arthritis: Retrospective Study.

Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKis) belong to a new class of targeted oral drugs that have been added to the therapeutic arsenal for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety profiles of these four available molecules (tofacitinib, baricitinib, filgotinib, and upadacitinib) in real life. A retrospective, single-center observational study including all patients treated with JAKis for RA from 1 October 2017 to 1 December 2023.

Interest in daily clinical practice of screening for gouty disease in patients with psoriatic arthritis.

Objectives: PsA and gout are two prevalent rheumatic diseases, that can be associated as part of a rheumatism known as 'Psout'. Both conditions are associated with cardiovascular (CV) risk, thus their co-occurrence could have significant implications for the management of CV risks and patient care. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of gout within a PsA patient cohort and, consequently, to identify factors associated with this pathological association.

Bone health in children with severe cerebral palsy.

Aim: To describe bone health and associated factors in children with severe cerebral palsy.

Method: In a retrospective, single-centre study, we performed a comprehensive bone evaluation (including clinical, densitometric and bone biomarker assessments) of children with severe cerebral palsy.

Results: None of the 19 included children had a normal BMC Z score, and only one had a BMD Z score greater than -2.
