The aim of this investigation was to detect the structural changes of lymphoid components of rat pharynx in an experiment after a course of exposure to various balneal procedures. The studies were performed on 90 outbred mature 3 month-old male rats (20 animals in each experimental group and 10 animals in each control groups). The animals were exposed to a course of weakly mineralized organic bituminous, thermal iodobromine and strong (concentrated) sulfide baths present on the territory of Azerbaijan.

Cohort study group made up thyroid specimens from 187 patients with nodular euthyroid and diffuse toxic goiter operated in the clinics of Azerbaijan Medical University (Baku) and the National Institute of Endocrinology in Tbilisi for the period 2010 - 2012. Results of the follicules and capillaries morphometric study indicate common clinico-morphologic manifestations of thyroid disorders in the studied regions of Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as to: 1) determinate capacity to the hyperplastic processes in the thyroid parenchyma under the nodular euthyroid goiter, 2) the disbalance between the clinical manifestation of the disease and its growth potential, which is important to define the "biological behavior" of thyroid nodules, including relapse.

The glandular apparatus of these organs was studied in 130 people of both sexes and different age groups (from the newborns to long-livers) using the macro-microscopical and histological methods. The results of these studies indicate that the shape of the glands in trachea and primary bronchi, as well as their numbers and dimensions are subject to great variability.

After a 28-days-long balneologic course using mineral waters with different composition, the histological and morphometric study of laryngeal gland was performed in different parts of the organ to assess the relative contents of parenchyma and stroma.
