Translational research in Australian mental health policy: a scoping review.

ObjectivesThe role of translational research in improving mental health care has been highlighted in federal policy; however, an examination of how and to what extent it has been articulated at this level has not been undertaken. The aim of this scoping review was to characterise translational research concepts in federal mental health policy.MethodsAustralian Government websites were searched for federal policy documents that made recommendations for mental health services in primary care and/or community settings.

Time evolution of a pumped molecular magnet-A time-resolved inelastic neutron scattering study.

Introducing an experimental technique of time-resolved inelastic neutron scattering (TRINS), we explore the time-dependent effects of resonant pulsed microwaves on the molecular magnet CrFPiv. The octagonal rings of magnetic Cr atoms with antiferromagnetic interactions form a singlet ground state with a weakly split triplet of excitations at 0.8 meV.

An audit of pre-operative dental radiographs in patients who received no pre-operative dental input before cardiovalvular surgery.

Purpose To radiographically characterise dental disease burden and related characteristics of referred patients awaiting cardiovalvular surgery (CVS) in the context of infective endocarditis (IE) risk.Methods Radiographic evidence of dental disease levels was assessed for patients referred for dental assessment pre-CVS using available orthopantomographs (OPTs) prescribed by the cardiology team. This group did not receive any pre-CVS dental intervention or treatment.

Evaluating diagnostic and management agreement between physiotherapists and ear, nose and throat specialist in a primary contact physiotherapy-led vestibular clinic: A prospective blinded inter-rater agreement pilot study.

Background: Dizziness and vertigo are common referrals to Ear Nose Throat (ENT) outpatient services however these services have long waitlists for assessment. Primary contact physiotherapy-led vestibular clinics are recognized as improving access to care. This pilot study investigated agreement between physiotherapists and an ENT medical practitioner for diagnostic and management decisions in patients attending a primary contact physiotherapy-led vestibular clinic.

Characteristics of quality improvement interventions to improve physical healthcare in mental health settings: a scoping review protocol.

Introduction: Mental health concerns globally impact millions of people, resulting in significant financial impact and adverse health outcomes. People living with mental health concerns are at higher risk of developing physical health issues, which can lead to a shortened life expectancy. Barriers to physical healthcare, such as limited service capacity, low help seeking and stigma, contribute to health disadvantage.
