[Functional study of the visual system in the cosmonaut by color campimetry].

An investigation of series of experiments on the visual system dynamics carried out by cosmonaut-researcher Iuriĭ Mikhaĭlovich Baturin [correction of Yuri M. Batourin] in the piloted complex "Mir" in August 1998. The implementation of the method of the visual system investigation with the use of the luminance sensitivity thresholds to the stimuli of distinguished spectral components in different points of the visual field helps to clarify some negative dynamics of the visual system functional conditions reflected in the luminance sensitivity thresholds.

[The outlook for the surgical treatment of refractive anomalies in flight personnel].

The authors discuss one of the important problems in aviation ophthalmology--correction and treatment of refraction anomaly in flying personnel. They disclose the methods of professional medical rehabilitation provided by the modern science development and analyze the surgical methods of refraction anomaly treatment with their pros and cons. Furthermore, the authors evaluate the prospects of keratotomy and excimer laser keratectomy's application for professional rehabilitation of flying personnel.

[Ophthalmophysiological features of applying soft contact lenses to correct myopia in pilots].

The development of effective methods for preventing and correcting myopia in pilots is one of the most important problems of aeronautic ophthalmology. The majority of Russian and foreign aeronautic ophthalmologists agree that contact correction is the principal method for repair of occupational vision of myopic pilots. Experiments with soft contact lenses with 38 and 70% humor content were carried out.
