Obesity modulates NK cell activity via LDL and DUSP1 signaling for populations with adverse social determinants.

African American (AA) women are disproportionately affected by obesity and hyperlipidemia, particularly in the setting of adverse social determinants of health (aSDoH) that contribute to health disparities. Obesity, hyperlipidemia, and aSDoH appear to impair NK cells. As potential common underlying mechanisms are largely unknown, we sought to investigate common signaling pathways involved in NK cell dysfunction related to obesity and hyperlipidemia in AA women from underresourced neighborhoods.

NEXAFS spectroscopy of alkylated benzothienobenzothiophene thin films at the carbon and sulfur K-edges.

Alkylated benzothienobenzothiophenes are an important class of organic semiconductors that exhibit high performance in solution-processed organic field-effect transistors. In this work, we study the near-edge x-ray absorption fine-structure (NEXAFS) spectra of 2,7-didecyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (C10-BTBT) at both the carbon and sulfur K-edges. Angle-resolved experiments of thin films are performed to characterize the dichroism associated with molecular orientation.

Validated patient reported outcome measures in speech-language pathology: A scoping review of adult practice.

Purpose: Patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) are increasingly used to inform value-based healthcare. Within speech-language pathology (SLP), there is no synthesis of validated PROMs to guide professional practice. This scoping review systematically identifies and evaluates condition-specific PROMs across adult SLP practice.
