To treat postoperative hypothyrosis, use was made of implantation of autologous thyroid tissue preserved and stored for 4 to 12 months before patients developed hypothyrosis. It was established that the treatment was followed by an increase in 131I accumulation in the body at the expense of its accumulation by the implant and stimulation of the process in the stump. This was paralleled by a considerable rise in T3 and T4 and reduction in TTH in the patients' blood.
