Brain metastases are known to have poor prognosis. In spite of using modern treatments such as microsurgical resection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, survival of these patients remains low. Due to this fact we looked for novel methods of treatment that are able to increase the recurrence-free surgical and therefore overall survival of these patients.

The rate of temporal lobe gliomas among all hemispheric gliomas is up to 1/3 cases. Psychiatric disorders are typical for temporal lesions and could be a single manifestation of the disease. The paper discusses pre- and intraoperative application of different guiding techniques (frameless neuronavigation, fMRI, electrophysiological monitoring). We performed comparative analysis of different combinations of these methods. 74 patients with intracerebral tumors involving eloquent areas (sensorimotor cortex in 56 and speech zones in 18) were operated.
