[Occupational estimation of the levels of mercury in workers engaged in electrochemical manufacture of caustic soda].

Plasmaless atomic absorption was used to study biosubstrates from the workers engaged in the production of caustic soda for the levels of mercury. In 63% of the examinees, the urinary concentrations of mercury exceeded the critical value and substantially increased after administration of a detoxifying agent. The content of mercury in the hair was also higher than the physiologically allowable normal value.

[Indices of oxygen supply to the bodies of rats following blood replacement by a perfluorodecalin emulsion].

Complete exchange blood replacement by perfluorodecalin (PFD) emulsion containing 20 v% PFD, 5 w% polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer as a surfactant and saline solution as a salt medium was performed in rats. The parameters of oxygen supply to the body in the initial state and at hematocrit levels decreased to 10, 5 and 1% were studied. It has been shown that oxygen consumption at the expense of PFD emulsion can reach values comparable with the initial ones.
