Pharmacochemical achievements have brought about considerable improvement in treating peptic ulcers. But possible side effects demand a very cautious approach to the administration of every new drug, and stimulate the search for nontraditional treatment. In 638 patients who were treated by semiconductor laser transcutaneously (external irradiation), an average term of ulcer healing was 11.

Ulcer epithelialization depended on the severity of the disease, diameter and depth of the ulcer defect.

This method makes it possible to register the changes of the temperature in inner organs using the probes placed on body surface. Some volunteers drank hot or cold water, some volunteers drank glucose solution, others got the dose of low laser radiation upon the liver.

Laser therapy has been fairly effective, normalizing the external respiration function and central hemodynamics and reducing the blood coagulability. Instrumental vibration massage and acupuncture are recommended to be added to rehabilitation treatment of PCS patients.
