When performing preoperative biliary drainage (PBD), it is necessary to have a clear understanding: why is this procedure performed (severe liver failure, cholangitis, long preoperative preparation is required due to comorbid status, neoadjuvant chemotherapy is necessary, etc.)? Routine use of PBD is impractical.
