Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) for performing adnexectomy and high uterosacral ligament suspension (HUSLS) after vaginal hysterectomy (VH) under epidural anesthesia.

Method: This was a retrospective case series of 42 women who underwent VH for stage II or greater apical prolapse according to pelvic organ prolapse quantification (POP-Q); however, adnexectomy could not performed and replace the vNOTES technique. The procedure continued with vNOTES adnexectomy and bilateral HUSLS under epidural anesthesia.

Cancer is a complex disease with heterogeneous mutational and gene expression patterns. Subgroups of patients who share a phenotype might share a specific genetic architecture including protein-protein interactions (PPIs). We developed the Atlas of Protein-Protein Interactions in Cancer (APPIC), an interactive webtool that provides PPI subnetworks of 10 cancer types and their subtypes shared by cohorts of patients.

Türkiye, due to its position as a bridge between Asia and Europe, encompassing three distinct biogeographic regions and its diverse climatic conditions and geographical features, exhibits the characteristics of a small continent in terms of biodiversity, hosting a very high number of mammalian species. However, information on these mammals' activity patterns and co-occurrence, specifically in Türkiye, is limited. Our study aimed to reveal the daily activity patterns and temporal overlaps of mammalian species detected using camera traps in Sülüklü Lake Nature Park.

Background: Food protein-induced allergic proctocolitis (FPIAP) typically develops in infancy, a critical period for taste preference and feeding skill development. Eliminating culprit foods, along with limited food options and the child's distressing symptoms, can significantly impact the mothers' parenting roles. However, research on behavioral feeding problems and parenting stress in toddlers with FPIAP is lacking.

Introduction Obesity is a complex condition characterized by excessive accumulation of body fat, which can have multiple causes, including genetic factors, inadequate diet, lack of physical exercise, and socioeconomic factors. Obesity can cause significant respiratory changes, so obese patients present pulmonary complications more frequently than individuals with normal weight. Improving respiratory function is an important aspect of obesity management, as it can reduce the risk of pulmonary complications and improve patients' quality of life.

  • Researchers successfully integrated InAs/GaAs quantum dot lasers with an AlGaN/GaN-on-sapphire waveguide platform using micro-transfer printing.
  • The design allows for easy alignment of the lasing modes with the passive waveguide modes, achieving a TE propagation loss of 4.5 dB/cm for 4 μm wide waveguides.
  • This integration showcases the potential of GaN for photonics applications, with a coupled output power of 1.5 mW at 70°C and 100 mA, marking a significant advancement in laser integration technology.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the laparoscopic pectopexy procedure in women who want to preserve their uterus for stage III or IV apical prolapse.

Study Design: 132 women who underwent laparoscopic pectopexy due to stage III or IV apical pelvic organ prolapse (POP) were included in this study. Demographic data of the patients, duration of surgery, blood loss, hospitalisation, intraoperative and postoperative complications, recurrence rate were searched from the hospital file archive.

  • Study examined the impact of microRNA gene variants miR-155 rs767649 and miR-22 rs8076112 on panic disorder (PD) risk in a Turkish population.
  • Involving 134 PD patients and 140 healthy controls, the research utilized PCR-RFLP for genotyping and assessed PD symptoms with the Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS).
  • Results showed no link between miR-155 and PD risk/severity, but a significant protective effect (80.4%) of the CC genotype of miR-22 against PD was found, suggesting further investigation is needed.

Background: The variant call format (VCF) file is a structured and comprehensive text file crucial for researchers and clinicians in interpreting and understanding genomic variation data. It contains essential information about variant positions in the genome, along with alleles, genotype calls, and quality scores. Analyzing and visualizing these files, however, poses significant challenges due to the need for diverse resources and robust features for in-depth exploration.

Background: Psychological maturity has been a subject of interest in various cultures, but a comprehensive instrument tailored to specific cultural contexts has been lacking. Existing scales often do not consider relevant cultural factors, creating a gap in psychological research. This study aimed to address this gap by introducing the "Psychological Maturity Scale" designed to be culturally sensitive.

Cancer rehabilitation represents a series of measures adopted for the recovery of psychological, emotional, social, and financial functioning in the case of cancer patients. The purpose of this study is to identify the main elements of therapeutic management in the field of medical rehabilitation, as well as integrative, complementary medicine and holistic approaches that can be performed on the oncological patient. This systematic literature review follows the methodology outlined in the "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis" ("PRISMA") statement, which is an internationally recognized and widely accepted standard.

Background: Globally, preterm birth remains the leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years old. Spontaneous preterm birth is comprised of two events that may or may not occur simultaneously: preterm labor and preterm prelabor rupture of membranes (PPROM). To further explore the concept that spontaneous preterm birth can result from the initializing of two separate but overlapping pathological events, we compared fetal membrane tissue from preterm labor deliveries to fetal tissue from preterm labor with PPROM deliveries.

Background: To evaluate the changes in retrobulbar circulation after strabismus surgery and to assess the relationship of these changes with choroidal thickness (CT).

Methods: This prospective study included 26 eyes of 26 patients who underwent strabismus surgery and 15 eyes of 15 healthy individuals as control group. The patients who had single horizontal muscle surgery were included in Group 1 (n = 14); and those who had surgery on both horizontal muscles were included in Group 2 (n = 12).

Graphene aerogel (GA) was reduced at various temperatures to prepare a series of reduced graphene aerogels (rGAs) with different surface characteristics. Detailed characterization demonstrated that an increase in the thermal reduction temperature leads to an increase in surface area accompanied by an increase in surface density of defect sites formed by the removal of the oxygen-containing functional groups. rGA samples were then tested for ethylene hydrogenation under identical conditions.

Considering the large abundance and diversity of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), evaluating the gas adsorption and separation performance of the entire MOF material space using solely experimental techniques or brute-force computer simulations is impractical. In this study, we integrated high-throughput molecular simulations with machine learning (ML) to explore the potential of both synthesized, the real MOFs, and computer-generated, the hypothetical MOFs (hypoMOFs), for adsorption-based CH/N separation. CH/N mixture adsorption data obtained from molecular simulations were used to train the ML models that could accurately predict gas uptakes of 4612 real MOFs.

The plum ( Ehrh) has been used worldwide both as a genetic source for breeding new rootstocks and as clonal rootstock for many species. Considering situations where wild relatives of plums are endangered, in-depth characterization of rootstock traits of genetic diversity of plum germplasm of Turkey with many ecogeographical locations is crucial. In the present study, therefore, three steps were followed for the selection of rootstock candidates among the plum germplasm grown in the Middle Euphrates.
