It was aimed to determine the prevalence of Helicobacter in some reptilian and amphibian species in Türkiye and to describe the bacteria. For this purpose, 73 cloacal swab samples were used as material. The description of the isolates was performed by detailed phenotypic tests, whole genome analyses, and MALDI-TOF MS.

Microplastics (MPs), tiny plastic particles less than 5 mm in size, have emerged as a common and worrying pollutant in marine, freshwater, and terrestrial environments worldwide. In this study, we revealed the microplastic exposure of two endemic newt species for Türkiye. We found that polyethylene terephthalate (PET) was the predominant microplastic polymer type in both species, with the blue fiber shape in particular.

Two recently recognized cryptic species of banded newt (genus ) are suspected to meet in parapatry in Anatolia, but a formal hybrid zone analysis has never been conducted. We sample populations throughout the range, with a focus on the supposed contact zone, and genotype them for 31 nuclear DNA SNP markers and mtDNA.

Actuarial senescence has been viewed for a long time as an inevitable and uniform process. However, the work on senescence has mainly focused on endotherms with deterministic growth and low regeneration capacity during the adult stage, leading to a strong taxonomic bias in the study of ageing. Recent studies have highlighted that senescence could indeed display highly variable trajectories that correlate with species life-history traits.

Absence of heterosis in hybrid crested newts.

Relationships between phylogenetic relatedness, hybrid zone spatial structure, the amount of interspecific gene flow and population demography were investigated, with the newt genus as a model system. In earlier work, a bimodal hybrid zone of two distantly related species combined low interspecific gene flow with hybrid sterility and heterosis was documented. Apart from that, a suite of unimodal hybrid zones in closely related showed more or less extensive introgressive hybridization with no evidence for heterosis.

Hemangioendotheliomas are vascular tumors which have an intermediate clinical behavior between hemangiomas and angiosarcomas. The epithelioid subtype of hemangioendothelioma, which is rarely seen in bone, has the potential to metastasize and may be confused radiologically with benign or malignant lesions. A metacarpal origin of this tumor is extremely rare.

Methods: In the present study, 246 cases of meningioma were reclassified according to the WHO 2000 system.

Objective: The objective was to assess the presence of Ki-67, and oestrogen and progesterone hormone receptors as well as their clinical correlates in acoustic neuroma.

Methods: Medical records of 59 patients who were operated on for acoustic neuroma between 1995 and 2003 were evaluated retrospectively. Formaldehyde-fixed paraffin-embedded archival acoustic neuroma specimens of the patients were used for immunohistochemical assessments of oestrogen and progesterone hormone receptors, and Ki-67 proliferative marker.

Rapid communication: renal apoptosis after shockwave application in rabbit model.

Purpose: To identify any apoptotic effect of shockwave lithotripsy (SWL) on renal tubular and glomerular cells.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-five male New Zealand White rabbits were divided into five groups of seven rabbits each: I (control), II (sham), and III, IV, and GV (treated and sacrificed 1, 7, and 28 days after SWL, respectively). Intramuscular anesthetic agent (ketamine HCl; 20 mg/kg) and intravenous contrast medium (iohexol 300 mg of I/mL) were administered to animals in group II.

Epithelioid sarcoma-like hemangioendothelioma: a case report.

Seven cases of an unusual low-grade vascular tumor were reported in a recent study. Despite its similarity to epithelioid sarcoma, this tumor was termed epithelioid sarcoma-like hemangioendothelioma because of the subtle histopathological and immunohistochemical differences. Another case of this rare entity in a 70-year-old woman who suffered from a painful mass on the anterior aspect of the right cubital fossa is presented here, together with a review of the relevant literature.

A case of ameloblastic carcinoma containing melanocyte and melanin in a 66-year-old male with swelling and an ulcerating firm mass in the left submandibular region is presented. The diagnosis was confirmed by biopsy. The current histopathological diagnosis and management are discussed.

The importance of re-evaluation in patients with cystitis glandularis associated with pelvic lipomatosis: a case report.

Pelvic lipomatosis is a rare, proliferative disease involving an overgrowth of normal fat in the pelvic retroperitoneal space. Cystitis glandularis, cystitis cystica, or cystitis follicularis can be observed in 75% of patients with pelvic lipomatosis. We describe a 58-yr-old man with pelvic lipomatosis in whom adenocarcinoma of the bladder was diagnosed in the second transurethral resection of the bladder 1 month after the first operation.
