The present study demonstrates the applicability of non-destructive and rapid spectroscopic techniques, specifically laser-induced fluorescence, ultraviolet-visible, and confocal micro-Raman spectroscopy, as non-invasive, eco-friendly, and robust multi-compound analytical methods for assessing biochemical changes in maize seedling leaves resulting from the treatment of aluminium oxide nanoparticles. The recorded fluorescence spectrum of the leaves shows that the treatment of different concentration of aluminium oxide nanoparticles decreases the chlorophyll content as observed by the increase in fluorescence emission intensity ratio (FIR = I/I). The analysis of ultraviolet-visible absorption measurements reveals that the amount of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll and carotenoid decrease for treated plants with respect to untreated seedlings.

A fully liquid hexavalent containing Diphtheria (D), Tetanus (T) toxoids, whole cell Pertussis (wP), Hepatitis B (Hep B), type 1, 2, 3 of inactivated poliovirus (IPV) and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) conjugate vaccine (DTwP-HepB-IPV-Hib vaccine, HEXASIIL) was tested for lot-to-lot consistency and non-inferiority against licensed DTwP-HepB-Hib + IPV in an open label, randomized Phase II/III study. In Phase III part, healthy infants received DTwP-HepB-IPV-Hib or DTwP-HepB-Hib + IPV vaccines at 6, 10 and 14 weeks of age. Blood samples were collected prior to the first dose and 28 days, post dose 3.

Background: Hepatitis A is an inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is transmitted mainly because of poor personal hygiene via the faecal/oral route through ingestion of contaminated food or water or through the direct contact with an infectious person. Though most of the infected individuals recover from the infection, a few may develop fatal fulminant hepatitis.

Objective: To evaluate the persistence of antibodies three years after primary vaccination with typhoid conjugate vaccine (TCV) of either Cadila Healthcare Ltd. (Cadila-TCV) or Bharat Biotech International Ltd. (Bharat-TCV) administered in a previous phase II/III study, and to study the booster dose response to Cadila-TCV.

Background: A lyophilized bovine-human rotavirus reassortant pentavalent vaccine (BRV-PV, Rotasiil®) was licensed in 2016. A liquid formulation of this vaccine (LBRV-PV, Rotasiil - Liquid) was subsequently developed and was tested for non-inferiority to Rotasiil® and for lot-to-lot consistency.

Methods: This Phase II/III, open label, randomized study was conducted at seven sites across India from November 2017 to June 2018.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS) quantum dots (QDs) are successfully synthesized by facile synthesis using ultrasonication assisted liquid exfoliation technique. The high and low boiling point solvents: N-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP) and ethanol-water solution have been used for synthesis of MoS QDs. Similar size distribution of MoS QDs synthesized in two different solvents have been observed from the transmission electron microscopy and average size of these QDs are ∼5 nm.

Article Synopsis
  • The study presents a novel green synthesis method for producing silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using direct sunlight and oyster mushroom extract, aiming for environmentally friendly and scalable production.
  • By adjusting the wavelength of sunlight, researchers can control the size and distribution of the nanoparticles, with blue light producing the smallest particles (~3.28 nm) compared to full sunlight (7.08 nm).
  • The synthesized Ag NPs demonstrated significant antibacterial properties against E. coli, with a minimum inhibitory concentration of 25 ppm and a minimum bactericidal concentration of 30 ppm for the smaller nanoparticles.

Background: A newly developed bovine-human reassortant pentavalent vaccine (BRV-PV, ROTASIIL®) was tested for its potential effect on the immunogenicity of concomitantly administered EPI vaccines in infants in a randomized controlled study in India.

Methods: In this Phase III, multicenter, open label, randomized, controlled study, three doses of BRV-PV or two doses of Rotarix® and one dose of placebo were given to healthy infants at 6, 10, and 14 weeks of age. Subjects also received three doses of DTwP-HepB-Hib (diphtheria, tetanus, whole-cell pertussis, hepatitis B, and haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate - pentavalent vaccine) and oral polio vaccine concomitantly at 6, 10, and 14 weeks of age and a single dose of inactivated polio vaccine at 14 weeks of age.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers developed silver nanoparticles decorated cotton (SNDC) fibers through a cost-effective microwave-assisted method, optimizing microwave power to control nanoparticle size and density.
  • * The SNDC fibers showed strong antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-negative bacteria, with significant cell death observed and promising potential for disinfecting medical tools, surfaces, and food preservation.

The thermal emission spectrum of the YbCl molecule, lying in the 3800-6000 A region, has been photographed for the first time at a reciprocal linear dispersion of 7.3 A/mm. More than 196 violet degraded bands have been recorded on a 2-m plane grating spectrograph in first order and assigned to the vibrational schemes of six systems, viz.
