Article Synopsis
  • - The study examines the link between non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) incidence and pesticide use in Antalya, Turkey, highlighting an increase in NHL rates from 1995 to 2010, with the male incidence at 6.5 per 100,000 and female at 4.4.
  • - Data from health authorities and cancer registries revealed a correlation (coefficient of 0.497, p=0.05) between the increasing amount of pesticide used (up by 1.89 times) and rising NHL cases, which have more than doubled in that time frame.
  • - Although a potential connection is suggested, the study calls for more in-depth research, including analyses of serum pesticide levels

Most hemodialysis patients exhibit renal anemia mainly due to erythropoietin deficiency as a result of impaired erythropoetin production in the kidney. However, erythrocytosis in patients with renal failure requiring hemodialysis is extremely rare. We report the development of erythrocytosis in a patient with a polycystic kidney disease on hemodialysis for 13 years.
