This study aims to investigate the antiallergic effects of Shiikuwasha (Citrus depressa Hayata) leaf and peel extracts by examining the regulation of degranulation and inflammatory cytokine production from rat basophilic leukemia (RBL-2H3) cells and antigen-specific antibody production in sensitized mouse spleen lymphocytes. In vivo antiallergic activity was evaluated using the passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) reaction model. Extracts of Shiikuwasha leaves and peel were prepared using 80% methanol and dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide.

We report a case of a male in his 50 s who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy for solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) of the pancreas at 30 years. He developed a liver abscess 15 years after the surgery, and CT scan revealed a swollen retroperitoneum lymph node and a tumor in the liver. Symptoms, including abdominal distension, appetite loss, and epigastric pain, appeared due to lymph node metastasis.

Endoscopic ultrasonography-guided drainage of infected intracystic papillary adenocarcinoma of the liver.

We describe a case of effective use of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)-guided drainage of an infected intracystic papillary adenocarcinoma (ICPA) of the liver. The patient was an 84-year-old woman who was admitted with complaints of continuous epigastric pain and a slight fever. Laboratory data revealed severe inflammation.

Pulmonary edema after cardioversion for paroxysmal atrial flutter: left ventricular diastolic dysfunction induced by direct current shock.

This report describes a patient with the pulmonary edema after cardioversion for paroxysmal atrial flutter without organic heart disease. A 68-year-old man was admitted to hospital for paroxysmal atrial flutter. Antiarrhythmic agents were not effective, and direct current cardioversion was performed on the 4th hospital day.

Impaired atrial contraction in patients with atrial flutter and gradual recovery after cardioversion.

The risk of thromboembolism after cardioversion of atrial flutter is controversial. The present study provides evidence for blood stasis in the atria of patients with atrial flutter and for gradual recovery of atrial contraction after cardioversion, which justifies prophylactic treatment at cardioversion, as for atrial fibrillation. We examined atrial thrombi and peak flow velocity in the left atrial appendage as an index of blood stasis in 5 consecutive patients with atrial flutter.
