Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are porous coordination networks assembled through metal complexes with organic linkers. Due to their chemical versatility, these materials are being investigated for various applications including gas storage and separation, biomedicine and catalysis. The aim of this work is the encapsulation of the model β-alanine amino-acid in the nanostructured zirconium-based MOF (UiO-66) which contains the ligand HBDC (1,4-benzenedicaboxylic acid).

By this method, two cadmium compounds were synthesized, , with formula Cd(ox)F(Ina) (Ina = isonicotinate) and , Cd(NO)(4,4'-Bpy) (4,4'-Bpy = 4,4'-Bipyridine). The modification of the reaction conditions has allowed to obtain as a pure phase.

Few supramolecular metal-organic frameworks (SMOFs) are stable under ambient conditions and those with anchored catalysts exhibit favourable properties. However, this paper presents an innovative approach that consists of using metal nodes as both structural synthons and catalysts.

In this work, a series of six metalloporphyrinic compounds constructed from different meso substituted metalloporphyrins (phenyl, carboxyphenyl and sulfonatophenyl) have been structurally characterized by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The compounds were classified considering the dimensionality of the crystal array, referred just to coordination bonds, into 0D, 1D and 2D compounds.

In this sense, an innovative approach consists in using the coordination-network synthons both as structural units and as catalysts. Regarding the latter, metalloporphyrins are suitable candidates for synthons.

The compound has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, IR, Mössbauer, UV-visible, and EPR spectroscopies, thermogravimetry, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and quantum-mechanical density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT calculations. The chemical formula for this compound can be confusing because it is compatible with Fe(II) and TPP(2-) anions.

Aim: To describe the changes in the incidence and the epidemiological profile of tuberculosis in Navarra.
Methods: The cases of tuberculosis in the 1994-2003 period were analysed. Cases reported to the system of obligatory notifiable diseases, completed with the microbiological diagnoses and the cases collected in other health registers.
Epidemiological surveillance in Navarre (584,734 inhabitants) covers 34 transmissible diseases, whose notification is compulsory, and epidemic outbreaks of any aetiology. Notification is carried out on a weekly basis by the doctors from paediatrics, primary care and specialised care. In 2004, 75.

A comparative study of nonphenolic oxidative coupling methodologies provides a highly efficient procedure, based on the hypervalent iodine reagent phenyliodine(III) bis(trifluoroacetate) (PIFA), to accomplish the final coupling step.

In the year 1985, the first cases of Aids were diagnosed in Navarra. Since then and until December 2002, according to the notifications received, 2,329 persons with HIV have been counted, of whom 1,538 were from Navarra and 791 temporary residents in this autonomous community. In recent years, the incidence of new diagnoses of HIV infection and cases of Aids has shown a clear tendency to fall in Navarra.

Background: At the Pharmacological Vigilance Center of Navarra a prospective observational study was designed and promoted aimed at estimating the incidence of candidiasis and its relation with the consumption of a wide spectrum of antibiotics.
Material And Methods: The field work, which lasted for one week, was carried out with the participation of Primary Care physicians, and included all of the previously selected antibiotic treatments prescribed during that time for any pathology, a search for determinate clinical manifestations, and an evaluation of the existence of a series of predisposing factors.
Results: Of the 1,430 patients treated (by 158 family doctors in 1,098 cases adn by 29 paediatricians in 332 cases) there were 49 cases of localised candidiasis, which gives an incidence of 3.
