[Dislocation of the proximal hallux interphalangeal joint with interposition of a sesamoid bone: a blibliographic review].

The irreducible dislocation of the hallux interphalangeal joint is an infrequent condition and only a few cases have been described. It presents as dorsal dislocation with interposition of the sesamoid bone, which has the possibility of being radiologically undetectable. We present the case of a 29 year-old patient who, after a sports trauma sustained a hallux interphalangeal dislocation that went unnoticed for eight days.

Introduction: Koutsogiannis' osteotomy has been widely described to treat adult-acquired flatfoot. However, few articles describe its midterm follow-up. Herein, we report on the pure and almost pure near-infrared (NIR) emission at around 807 nm observed for Tm(Yb) (co)-doped CeO2 nanoparticles (NPs) under UV, X-ray and NIR up-conversion excitation. The optical responses are attributed to the low-lying charge-transfer of CeO2 that acts as a selective antenna sensitizer of the Tm (3)H4 emission and Yb doping that lowers the local symmetry at Tm sites and introduces additional phonon modes. Selective antenna sensitization is also observed for Er/Ho (Yb) (co)-doped CeO2 NPs.

To assess the survival, the complications, the clinical, radiological and functional outcomes, and the quality of life of those patients in whom a Optetrak Condylar Constrained Knee (CCK) had been implanted as a primary implant. To study how the pre-operative conditions (deformity, age, sex …) and the characteristics of the arthroplasty (stems, supplements, constrained component …) could change the survival or the clinical outcomes of the implants.

Purpose: We used the Optetrak Condylar Constrained (CCK) implant, a modular and constrained knee implant as replacement for a failed primary arthroplasty, to assess the survivorship, the complications, the clinical, radiological, and functional situation, and the quality of life of those patients in whom a CCK had been implanted in recent years in order to find predictive pre-operative conditions of survival and clinical outcomes.

Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 125 CCK implanted between 1999 and 2005. The mean follow-up was nine years (range, seven to 13).

Carney's triad is defined by the coexistence of at least two of three rare disorders, including gastric epithelioid leiomyosarcoma (malignant leiomyoblastoma), pulmonary chondroma, and paraganglioma, most often extra-adrenal and functioning. We report a new case in a 10-year-old girl. The paraganglioma, although nonfunctioning, was detected after it was searched for, as Carney's triad was suspected.
