Surface modification of textile fabrics and leathers is very versatile and allows the products quality improvement. In this work, cotton and leather substrates were pre-treated with cold atmospheric pressure plasma (CAPP) and further coated with TiO-SiO-reduced graphene oxide composites in dispersion form. By using a Taguchi scheme, this research evaluated the effect of three significant parameters, i.

In addition, the effect of graphene on the overall photocatalytic process is still debated. Consequently, herein, we prepared a series of TiO nanoparticle-based composites with different copper oxide mass content (1-3%) and co-doped with graphene of different oxidation degrees.

Material And Methods: Clinical (EVA and oswestry disability index ODI) and radiological (alignment and fusion), complications (major and minor) and quality of life (EQ5D) of 32 patients intervened from September 2015 to September 2018 have been analyzed and compared, with an average follow-up of 25 months (46-18). The average age in surgery was 66 years (39-89) and 68% of patients were women.
Introduction: Subtrochanteric fractures are associated with a high rate of complications. Intramedullary nails have proven to be the best choice for treatment, but no implant has been shown to be superior to another. We want to study the differences between treating subtrochanteric fractures in the elderly with two different types of nails: T2 Recon vs Gamma3 long.

It presents as dorsal dislocation with interposition of the sesamoid bone, which has the possibility of being radiologically undetectable. We present the case of a 29 year-old patient who, after a sports trauma sustained a hallux interphalangeal dislocation that went unnoticed for eight days.

Our aim was to study clinical and radiological outcomes at least one year after surgery and to analyze whether a combined procedure on the medial soft tissue affected these outcomes.

The optical responses are attributed to the low-lying charge-transfer of CeO2 that acts as a selective antenna sensitizer of the Tm (3)H4 emission and Yb doping that lowers the local symmetry at Tm sites and introduces additional phonon modes. Selective antenna sensitization is also observed for Er/Ho (Yb) (co)-doped CeO2 NPs.

To assess the survival, the complications, the clinical, radiological and functional outcomes, and the quality of life of those patients in whom a Optetrak Condylar Constrained Knee (CCK) had been implanted as a primary implant. To study how the pre-operative conditions (deformity, age, sex …) and the characteristics of the arthroplasty (stems, supplements, constrained component …) could change the survival or the clinical outcomes of the implants.

Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 125 CCK implanted between 1999 and 2005. The mean follow-up was nine years (range, seven to 13).
Introduction: Hypersensitivity reactions to beta-lactams (BLs) are often reported in children, with amoxicillin and, to a lesser extent, cephalosporins being the most frequent drugs involved. Although many of these children are considered to be allergic, a careful evaluation only confirms a low percentage.
Objectives: To analyse the clinical data, sensitization profile and diagnostic methods used in a large group of children with a clinical history of hypersensitivity reactions to BLs.
Background: Hypersensitivity to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can affect children, with the mechanism proposed being inhibition of the cyclooxygenase enzyme-1 (COX-1). In these patients nonchemically related NSAIDs, including COX-2 inhibitors, can induce the reaction, hampering treatment of fever and inflammatory processes.
Objectives: To analyse retrospectively tolerance to etoricoxib, a selective COX-2 inhibitor, and to meloxicam, a preferential COX-2 inhibitor, in children with hypersensitivity to NSAIDs.
Introduction: There is no controversy about the need for surgical treatment of the displaced surgical neck fractures of the humerus, but there are few studies comparing the results of the three preferred types of surgical treatment. To expand the knowledge needed in decision making, a patient series is reviewed using health related quality of life (HRQoL), functional and radiographic data from patients treated with percutaneous pinning, locking plates or intramedullary nails.
Materials And Methods: Retrospective observational cohort study of patients who underwent internal fixation of fractures of the surgical neck of the humerus between 2004 and 2009 (mean follow-up 40.
Introduction: The idea of establishing an examination that accredits the training of the specialists in orthopaedic surgery at the end of their educational period as residents is subject to controversy. With the aim of encouraging the development of this examination, the present members of the National Commission of the Specialty of Orthopaedics (CNE) have reviewed the results obtained in previous examination.
Materials And Methods: The results of the voluntary final exam for Orthopaedics residents, and of the surveys of participant opinions for the years 2006 to 2011 are presented.
Introduction: Hypersensitivity reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most frequently reported reaction to drugs. They can be induced by pharmacological mechanisms (cyclooxygenase inhibition), with patients classified as cross-intolerant (CI), or by specific immunological mechanisms, IgE or T cell, with patients classified as selective reactors (SR).
Objective: To analyse a large group of children with a history of NSAID hypersensitivity diagnosed by drug provocation test (DPT).
Carney's triad is defined by the coexistence of at least two of three rare disorders, including gastric epithelioid leiomyosarcoma (malignant leiomyoblastoma), pulmonary chondroma, and paraganglioma, most often extra-adrenal and functioning. We report a new case in a 10-year-old girl. The paraganglioma, although nonfunctioning, was detected after it was searched for, as Carney's triad was suspected.
