Article Synopsis
  • A new nanofiber adsorbent made from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and gum tragacanth (GT) was created for extracting bisphenol A (BPA) from water using a method called solid phase extraction (SPE).
  • The nanofiber has a rough surface structure with pores and an average diameter of 501 nm and successfully binds BPA using hydrogen bonding.
  • The extraction process showed high efficiency, with excellent recovery rates in bottled water samples and a very low detection limit for BPA, making it a promising method for water analysis.

Bimetallic Pt-Pd nanoparticles were dispersed on polypyrrole coated indium-tin oxide coated polyethylene terephthalate sheets (ITO-PET sheets). The excellent filming property of pyrrole gives a high porous uniform active area for the proper adsorption of bimetallic transition metal nanoparticles. Electrochemical behavior of the modified electrodes was determined using cyclic voltammetry and impedance studies.

A sensitive detection strategy for ascorbic acid (AA), using sodium alginate reduced/stabilized gold nanoparticles (SA-AuNPs) as the optical probe, is reported. The SA-AuNPs were prepared by mixing gold salt and SA under stirring for 2 h at room temperature, without any further steps. The mixture was aged at 4 °C overnight, after which a faint-purple colloidal solution of SA-AuNPs was obtained.
