Reactogenicity to ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine in health care workers: A multicenter observational study in Sri Lanka.

Introduction: The acceptability of a vaccine is an important factor during mass vaccination programs and this is largely dependent on the symptoms of local and systemic reactogenicity. There is paucity of data on the systemic and local reactions experienced by COVD-19 vaccine recipients in South Asia.

Objectives: To identify the early local and systemic reactogenicity of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine.

Sensory-Motor Polyneuropathy and Digital Ischemia: A Rare Presentation of Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis.

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) typically presents with upper or lower respiratory tract symptoms and/or with renal involvement. Although it can affect the peripheral nervous system frequently, with mononeuritis multiplex being the most common pattern, the occurrence of peripheral sensory-motor polyneuropathy as a presenting manifestation is distinctly rare. Prevalence of digital gangrene is also extremely rare in GPA.

Clinical and Biochemical Characteristics of Dengue Infections in Children From Sri Lanka.

Introduction: Analyzing dengue disease patterns from different parts of the world should help us formulate more evidence based treatment guidelines and appropriately allocate limited healthcare resources. Therefore, we described the disease characteristics of hospitalised pediatric patients with dengue infections from Sri Lanka during the 2017 dengue epidemic.

Methods: Clinical and biochemical characteristics of pediatric dengue patients treated at a secondary care hospital in Sri Lanka from 1 June 2017 to 31 August 2017 were analyzed.

Comparing the 2009 and 1997 World Health Organization dengue case classifications in a large cohort of South Asian patients.

Introduction: Due to the shortcomings in the 1997-World Health Organisation (WHO) dengue case classification (DCC), a revised classification was proposed in 2009. This study was aimed to assess the clinical usefulness of the two classifications during a large dengue epidemic.

Methodology: Clinical data of dengue patients admitted to selected units at National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Panadura Base Hospital and Nawaloka Hospital Colombo between June and August 2017 were collected prospectively.

Malignant transformation of oral leukoplakia: a follow-up study.

Objective: The main objective of the study was to identify the determinants that contribute to the malignant transformation of oral leukoplakia in a group of patients managed in secondary care. A secondary objective was to compare two dysplasia grading systems to determine their utility in assessing the prognosis.

Material And Methods: The cohort consisted of 93 patients diagnosed during the period 2009-2013.

Pattern of dengue virus infections in adult patients from Sri Lanka.

Background: Sri Lanka experienced its largest dengue epidemic in 2017. This study describes the disease pattern of adult dengue patients from two hospitals in Sri Lanka.

Methods: Demographic, clinical and investigation findings of adult dengue patients admitted to the two hospitals from June to August 2017 were collected and analysed.

Morphological changes in oral mucosae and their connective tissue cores regarding oral submucous fibrosis.

Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is a chronic disease of the oral cavity characterized by an inflammatory reaction followed by severe fibro-elastic changes. The aim of the present study was to investigate the three-dimensional morphological changes in the connective tissue cores (CTCs) of the oral mucosa in OSF. The sample consisted of buccal mucosal biopsies from ten human subjects ranging in age from 40-45 years; five of them were clinically diagnosed as having moderate to severe OSF, and the remaining five served as unaffected controls.
