Background: Flour dust, with an inherent allergic nature, increases vulnerability to various respiratory ailments. We systemically reviewed and compared literature-reported pulmonary function parameters to quantify pulmonary dysfunction among individuals with high flour dust exposure (among flour mill workers) and relatively un-exposed groups.

Methods: Studies that compared pulmonary function parameters for flour dust exposed and unexposed control groups were systemically searched in PubMed, Scopus and Embase from inception to June 2024.

Combined liver-kidney transplantation (CLKT) is a transplant modality of choice in children with both end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and severe hepatic disease. However, there is no consensus on whether children with ARPKD-associated ESRD without severe hepatic disease can be treated with isolated kidney transplantation (KT) without the need for CLKT.

The R644C variant of lamin A is controversial, as it has been linked to multiple phenotypes in familial studies, but has also been identified in apparently healthy volunteers. Here we present data from a large midwestern US cohort showing that this variant associates genetically with hepatic steatosis, and with related traits in additional publicly available datasets, while testing demonstrated that this variant increased cellular lipid droplet accumulation. Taken together, these data support this variant's potential pathogenicity in lipodystrophy and metabolic liver disease.

Urban tropical freshwater ponds as microplastics hotspots-insight on abundance and characteristics using an improved sampling technique.

This study elucidates the distribution and characteristics of microplastics (MPs) in 20 tropical freshwater ponds, located in the urban settlement of Raipur city in state of Chhattisgarh, India. The ponds were divided into 4 groups based on the habitat types to understand the influence of land use patterns and human activity on the distribution of MPs. Here, we provide an improved sampling technique that is economical, traditional, indigenous, independent of vessels or structures, and replicable for smaller waterbodies.
