The development of efficient and stable proton conductors is a pivotal area of research due to their transformative potential in alternative energy technologies. Recently, there has been a surge of interest in synthesizing proton conductors based on polyoxometalate (POM) materials, attributed to their highly negatively charged and oxygen-rich surfaces. In this study, we report on a highly water-soluble giant POM, (NH)[MoO(CHCOO)(HO)]·300HO·10CHCOONH (designated as {Mo}), which was rendered insoluble in water by exchanging its ammonium cations with larger organic cations, specifically histidinium, pyridinium, bipyridinium, and methyl viologen, resulting in His-Mo132, Py-Mo132, Bpy-Mo132 and MV-Mo132, respectively.

Background: The Ehlers Danlos Syndromes (EDS) are inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern and patients classically present with hypermobility, skin hyper-elasticity, blood vessel fragility and atrophic scarring. Due to hypermobility, disorders such as joint pain and early arthritis are common. The aim of this study was to assess clinical and radiological outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with EDS treated in a high volume orthopaedic centre.

Article Synopsis
  • In Uganda, traditional healthcare and spirituality are intertwined, but the lack of documentation and understanding makes it a controversial topic.
  • This article explores the perspectives of Baganda traditional spiritual healers, known as Balubaale, focusing on their definitions and management of health, illness, and disease through spiritual practices.
  • Using qualitative methods, the study highlights the culturally specific language and concepts related to health and healing, suggesting the need for further research to enhance communication and inform policy.

Overactivation of mineralocorticoid receptors occurs in cardiorenal diseases. Many patients with type 2 diabetes often progress to chronic kidney disease (CKD) and require dialysis. Finerenone is the first oral non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonist used in patients with diabetic kidney disease and heart failure.

Soumya Surath PandaGastric cancer (GC) is often ignored at a young age, which frequently leads to tragic consequences. The worldwide incidence of GC is increasing at a young age. In view of the limited Indian publication, we sought to characterize clinicopathological parameters and risk factors in the adolescents and young adults (AYA) population.

Molybdenum trioxide (MoO) is a well-known transition metal oxide that has drawn much attention as a functional material having numerous applications. However, a vast majority of studies have primarily focused on α-MoO, the thermodynamically stable polymorph of MoO. This present work encompasses the synthesis of single crystals of two metastable hexagonal MoO described by the formulas {MnNa}@[MoMoO] () and {CuNa}@[MoMoO] (), their comprehensive structural characterization by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, and routine spectral and microscopic studies.

Traditional medicinal knowledge and healing practices of indigenous spiritual healers play important roles in health care, and contribute towards achieving Universal Health Care. Traditional spiritual healers (TSHs) are grouped into three categories. One category of Baganda TSHs, Balubaale, engage ancestral spirits during health management.

Genetic polymorphism in key metabolic genes plays a pivotal role in shaping phenotypes and adapting to varying environments. Polymorphism in the metabolic gene 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6Pgdh) in bulb mites, Rhizoglyphus robini is characterized by two alleles, S and F, that differ by a single amino acid substitution and correlate with male reproductive fitness. The S-bearing males demonstrate a reproductive advantage.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is the downward displacement of pelvic organs. The condition is very common in women and negatively affects their quality of life. The aging process reflects in the form of structural and functional weakness of the pelvic floor which leads to pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD).

Introduction: Practically all physicians encounter a diverse range of suspected cutaneous adverse drug reactions (CADRs) in their daily clinical practice. The skin and mucosa are the most often encountered areas for the early presentation of numerous adverse drug reactions. Cutaneous adverse drug reactions are classified as benign or severe.

Managing diabetes is challenging due to the complex physiology of the disease and the numerous complications associated with it. As part of the ongoing search for antidiabetic chemicals, marine algae have been demonstrated to be an excellent source due to their medicinal properties. In this study, extracts were investigated for their anti-diabetic effect by examining its inhibitory effects on α-amylase, α-glucosidase, and DPP-IV and antioxidant (DPPH) potential in vitro and its purified fraction using animal models.

We report the synthesis, structural characterization, and photophysical properties of a propeller-shaped Ag nanomolecule with six rotary arms, protected with -carborane-9-thiol (MCT) and triphenylphosphine (TPP) ligands. Structural analysis reveals that the nanomolecule has an Ag central icosahedral core with six directly connected silver atoms and two more silver atoms connected through three Ag-S-Ag bridging motifs. While 12 MCT ligands protect the core through metal-thiolate bonds in a 3-6-3-layered fashion, two TPP ligands solely protect the two bridging silver atoms.

Mandible reconstruction and dental rehabilitation after trauma or tumor resection represent a serious challenge for maxillofacial surgeons. This study aimed to investigate the bone formation potential of nanocomposite fibrous scaffold (silica-nanohydroxyapatite-gelatin reinforced with poly L-lactic acid yarns - CSF) for delayed Titanium (Ti) implantation, which was compared to autograft (AG) taken from the iliac crest. The grafts were placed in critical-sized mandibular defects in an adult pig model for 6 months followed by dental implant placement for another 3 months.

Aims: With increasing burden of revision hip arthroplasty (THA), one of the major challenges is the management of proximal femoral bone loss associated with previous multiple surgeries. Proximal femoral arthroplasty (PFA) has already been popularized for tumour surgeries. Our aim was to describe the outcome of using PFA in these demanding non-neoplastic cases.

Background: Although rare, taxane-induced interstitial pneumonitis is a well-recognized toxicity following chemotherapy. Data on taxane rechallenge in patients who developed taxane-induced interstitial pneumonitis following chemotherapy are limited. Here, we share our experience of acute interstitial pneumonitis following taxane chemotherapy for breast cancer and its clinical outcome following steroids and subsequent rechallenge with taxanes in selected patients without residual lung abnormalities on imaging following steroid treatment.

Hyperprolactinemia is a relatively common diagnosis to be expected in an adolescent age group with chronic menstrual disturbances. The present case report documents the efficacy of Ayurvedic management in a 21-year-old female with secretory pituitary microadenoma, which was found to be responsible for menstrual disturbances. The patient, with high prolactin levels with pituitary microadenoma, was subjected to an Ayurvedic management protocol, including Śhamana nasya for 7 days followed by Śhamana Cikitsa for 3 months.

Introduction: Lisfranc injuries form a distinct group of rare but severe injury. Literature suggests a low incidence, but failure to diagnose these injuries early and its subsequent delay in management will affect the patient's mobility and quality of life significantly. The preferred mode of management is said to be surgical.

Present study addresses the fortification of mayonnaise with fish protein hydrolysate by partial replacement of egg yolk in the product. Red meat of yellowfin tuna (), a by-product from tuna canning industry was used as the source of protein hydrolysate (TPH). Substitution of egg yolk with hydrolysate imparted noticeable fish flavor to the product only at higher levels of replacement (50% and above).
