Coordination complexes of rare-earth ions (REI) show optical transitions with narrow linewidths enabling the creation of coherent light-matter interfaces for quantum information processing (QIP) applications. Among the REI-based complexes, Eu(III) complexes showing the D→F transition are of interest for QIP applications due to the narrow linewidths associated with the transition. Herein, we report on the synthesis, structure, and optical properties of a novel Eu(III) complex and its Gd(III) analogue composed of 2,9-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)-1,10-phenanthroline (dpphen) and three nitrate (NO) ligands.

Various techniques were discussed in relation to C1-C2 stabilization. The study aims to share our clinical experience in a series of six cases of C1-C2 instability that underwent posterior C1-C2 fusion, with free hand technique and limited fluoroscopy.

In this scenario, the medical education department (MEU) of a teaching hospital under a deemed university felt the need to study the satisfaction and usefulness of these classes, as perceived by the undergraduate medical students.
Methods: Questionnaire survey was planned.
Calvarial intradiploeic epidermal cyst are very rare neoplasms which can have intracranial extension. These cysts can attain a large size and can cause lytic destruction of the calvarium resembling malignancy. Since these lesions are benign complete excision is curative.

We are reporting this case due to the rarity of GCT and usually these tumors are confined to the suprasellar region since they are arising from the pituitary stalk. GCTs that attain such giant size with cavernous sinus invasion are still rarer.

In the present paper we report a low cost, single step preparation method for the synthesis of CuO-ZnO nanocomposite through simple co-precipitation technique using oxalic acid. To have a better idea about the deviations brought about by the inclusion of CuO in ZnO lattice, pure ZnO nanoparticles synthesized from 0.1M solutions were also investigated.

A facile bottom-up 'green' and rapid synthetic route using Murraya Koenigii leaf extract as reducing and stabilizing agent produced silver nanoparticles at ambient conditions and gold nanoparticles at 373 K. The nanoparticles were characterized using UV-vis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR analysis. This method allows the synthesis of well-dispersed silver and gold nanoparticles having size ∼10 nm and ∼20 nm, respectively.

CdS quantum dots of different sizes approximately 3-5nm were prepared using aqueous solutions of CdSO(4) and Na(2)S(2)O(3) at 303K with thioglycerol as stabilizing agent and catalyst. The broad X-ray diffraction pattern and SAED pattern with bright circular spots and clear lattice fringes in the high-resolution TEM image indicate cubic phase of the nanocrystals. Band gap changes from the bulk value of 2.

Nanoparticles of CdS were prepared at 303 K by aqueous precipitation method using CdSO4 and (NH4)2S in presence of the stabilizing agent thioglycerol. Adjustment of the thioglycerol (T) to ammonium sulphide (A) ratio (T:A) from 1:25 to 1:3.3 was done during synthesis and nanoparticles of different size were obtained.

The formation mechanism and morphology of Au-Ag bimetallic colloidal nanoparticles depend on the composition. Ag coated Au colloidal nanoparticles have been prepared by deposition of Ag through chemical reduction on performed Au colloid. The composition of the Au100-x-Agx particles was varied from x=0 to 50.

Mesenchymal cells can be characterized by the expression of specific sets of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. The aim of our study was to identify such expression pattern in cartilage-forming tumours in order to elucidate the biology of these neoplasms. In situ hybridisation and immunohistochemistry for various ECM components were performed on enchondromas, conventional chondrosarcomas of various grades and dedifferentiated chondrosarcomas.
