Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease in which T helper 1 (Th1) and Th17 cells play a major role in its pathogenesis. Studies have shown that keratinocytes in psoriatic tissue are resistant to apoptosis and have a high proliferation rate. Survivin is a multifunctional protein belonging to an apoptosis inhibitor family, which has significant effects on the immune system, such as activation of dendritic cells and T cells and immunomodulation.
