CMV endotheliitis: a cause for recurrent failed corneal transplant.

To highlight the clinical presentation of CMV endotheliitis and the challenge in diagnosing this condition in recurrent failed penetrating keratoplasty (PK). Case series There are 3 cases of recurrent failure in PK secondary to CMV endotheliitis presented. Case 1 and 2 were pseudophakic patients, while in case 3, the patient had a previous history of recurrent anterior uveitis.

Evaluation of Corneal Endothelial Cell Loss After Uncomplicated Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery With Intracameral Phenylephrine.

Purpose: To study the effects of intracameral phenylephrine 1.5% on corneal endothelial cell loss and morphological changes in patients who had uneventful phacoemulsification surgery.

Bilateral retinal vein occlusion and rubeosis irides: lessons to learn.

Uncontrolled hypertension is well- known to give rise to systemic complications involving multiple central organs. Artherosclerosis leads to damage of the retinal vessels wall, contributing to venous stasis, thrombosis and finally, occlusion. Retinal vein occlusions compromise vision through development of ischaemic maculopathy, macular oedema, and rubeotic glaucoma.

Spontaneous bilateral corneal perforation in stevens- johnsons syndrome-a challenge in management.

A 42-year-old man from Ghana presented with bilateral painful corneal perforations following ingestion of a sulphur-based antibiotic. Emergency bilateral penetrating keratoplasty was performed, with restoration of globe integrity. However, surgical complications arose such as non-healing epithelial defect, secondary infection, graft dehiscence, and mounting intraocular pressure.

Retinal vasculitis in systemic lupus erythematosus: an indication of active disease.

A 26-year-old woman with a recent flare-up of systemic lupus erythematosus presented with peripheral retinal hemorrhages at a routine check-up. She is on a tapering dose of immunosuppressive agents. Her visual acuity was good.
