Hypercalcemia is a significant complication in cancer patients, primarily caused by parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) and, rarely, by parathyroid hormone (PTH) production from tumors. We report a case of severe hypercalcemia in a woman with uterine cancer who exhibited elevated PTH and PTHrP levels. Surgical intervention revealed dedifferentiated endometrial carcinoma.

Clozapine is an effective antipsychotic medication for treatment-resistant schizophrenia, and its usefulness for aggressive behavior has also been suggested.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a 38-year-old male patient diagnosed with schizophrenia who was successfully treated with clozapine after recurrent violent behavior.
Background: Evaluation of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpression caused by erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ERBB2) amplification (AMP) by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is essential for treating unresectable metastatic gastric cancer (GC). A targeted tumour sequencing test enables comprehensive assessment of alterations in cancer-related genes, including ERBB2. This study aimed to evaluate the concordance between the targeted tumour sequencing test and IHC/FISH for detecting HER2-positive GC and to clarify the significance of ERBB2 AMP and concomitant genetic alterations in HER2 downstream pathways (DPs) in anti-HER2 therapy for unresectable metastatic GC patients.

Here, we report a 14-year-old boy with a growing mass during treatment for a mixed germ cell tumor of the pineal region. Tumor markers were negative; thus, growing teratoma syndrome was suspected.

Methods: A total of 526 patients with surgically resected NSCLC were included (191 training, 160 internal validation, and 175 external validation cohorts). CT images were used to segment the gross tumor volume (GTV) and peritumoral volume (PTV) within distances of 3, 6, 9 mm from the tumor boundary (PTV3, PTV6, and PTV9), and radiomic features were extracted.
This study investigated the respiratory activity in adult Wistar rats across different behavioral seizure severity induced by pentylenetetrazole (PTZ). Animals underwent surgery for electrodes implantation, allowing simultaneous EEG and diaphragm EMG (DIA) recordings and the respiratory frequency and DIA amplitude were measured. Seizures were acutely induced through PTZ injection and classified based on a pre-established score, with absence-like seizures (spike wave discharge (SWD) events on EEG) representing the lowest score.

Early acquisition of post-zygotic somatic mutations has been postulated to underlie the pathogenesis of NCM. The pathogenesis of NCM remains to be fully elucidated, and treatment options have not been established.

Exacerbated inflammatory responses are a hallmark of severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Zileuton (Zi) is a selective inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase, an enzyme involved in the production of several inflammatory/pro-resolving lipid mediators. Herein, we investigated the effect of Zi treatment in a severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) model.

SPN is often asymptomatic in the early stages, so it is initially discovered as a large tumor. In this report, we experienced a case of a relatively small SPN discovered in the setting of acute pancreatitis.

A mass in the right lower lobe of the lung and bilateral centrilobular lung nodules were found unexpectedly during the patient's visit to a hospital for a respiratory infection. The patient's occupation for 26 years involved spraying PTFE.

Short stature is known to be caused by chronic inflammatory conditions, in which over-produced inflammatory cytokines are reported to be involved in growth suppression. Castleman disease is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder known as a chronic inflammatory disease with overproduction of interleukin 6, which often causes systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, weight loss, and night sweats.

Gastrointestinal tract metastasis is rarely seen, and hypopharyngeal metastasis is extremely rare. We herein report a case of late distant recurrence of breast cancer and synchronous metastasis to the hypopharynx, stomach, ileum, bones, and lymph nodes almost 24 years after surgery.

We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of FNAC and CNB, the usefulness of the image-guided needle procedures, and assessed whether a discordance can influence the prognosis.
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively examined the accuracy rates of FNAC and CNB procedures by analyzing results of 405 specimens of 389 patients.
Gastric cancer is a Lynch syndrome (LS)-associated tumor, with the cumulative lifetime risk in LS patients estimated to be 5.8-13%. Hence, surveillance for gastric cancer is important for LS patients, especially in those with a family history of gastric cancer or of Asian descent.

This study aimed to identify the predictive factors for the rare but important clinical issue of SHNC, namely cervical lymph node metastasis (CLNM), following endoscopic resection.
Methods: Sixty-nine patients with SHNC who underwent endoscopic resection were enrolled in the study.
Gastrointestinal duplications are congenital malformations that are usually observed in pediatric patients. Diagnosis in adulthood is quite rare, and preoperative diagnosis of gastrointestinal duplication is difficult, particularly in the small intestine. We encountered an extremely rare adult case of duplication of the jejunum, which showed a stomach-like form diagnosed using double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE).

The diagnosis was microinvasive ductal cancer that was pT1miN1M0, pStage ⅡA, hormone receptor negative, and HER2 positive. Given the impact of this cancer on the prognosis of liver metastases of GIST, imatinib therapy, but not adjuvant chemotherapy, was started promptly for breast cancer after surgery.

In addition, the colorectal mucinous adenocarcinoma often demonstrates poor differentiation in the histology of tumor cells and poor prognosis compared with those with adenocarcinoma. Here, we present the case of a young woman with colonic mucinous adenocarcinoma showing significantly rapid progression within four months of immunosuppressant therapy for Henoch-Schönlein purpura.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is an emerging novel therapy for solid tumors; however, its application in synovial sarcoma has not yet been explored.
Methods: A novel human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-targeted CAR containing scFv-FRP5, CD8α hinge and transmembrane domains as well as 4-1BB costimulatory and CD3ζ signaling domains was developed.
