Persistent Activation of STAT3 Pathway in the Retina Induced Vision Impairment and Retinal Degenerative Changes in Ageing Mice.

Neurotrophic factors can promote the survival of degenerating retinal cells through the activation of STAT3 pathway. Thus, augmenting STAT3 activation in the retina has been proposed as potential therapy for retinal dystrophies. On the other hand, aberrant activation of STAT3 pathway is oncogenic and implicated in diverse human diseases.
