Article Synopsis
  • Oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) are abnormal tissue changes that may lead to oral cancer, making it important to identify high-risk lesions and measure oxidative stress markers like lipid peroxidase (LPO).
  • A study analyzed LPO levels across four groups: oral cancer patients, healthy controls, and two types of OPMD (oral leukoplakia and others), finding significantly higher LPO levels in the oral cancer group (171.86 nmol/L) compared to others.
  • The results suggest that increased LPO levels are associated with greater oxidative stress in oral cancer, indicating that LPO could serve as a valuable marker for assessing tissue damage in individuals with OPMDs.

Introduction is an edible fruit that contains numerous significant bioactive compounds that hold important biological properties and are categorized as nutraceuticals owing to the health benefits it imparts including decreasing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus, cancer, heart disease, and many other diseases. The objective of the present research was to explore the antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory characteristics of the aqueous raspberry extract through in vitro assays. Materials and methods aqueous extract was prepared and examined for its antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi using the agar-well diffusion method, and the antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH (2, 2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl hydrate) radical scavenging assay and the hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging assay.
