The rising global temperatures, attributed to the high global warming potential (GWP) of conventional refrigerants, necessitate the adoption of low-GWP alternatives in HVAC systems. However, these low-GWP refrigerants often exhibit high toxicity and flammability, limiting their usage. To address these challenges, compact heat exchangers incorporating blended refrigerants have been introduced to enhance HVAC system performance.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma presenting as acute suppurative thyroiditis: A case report and review of the literature.

Acute suppurative thyroiditis is a rare, potentially life-threatening condition. We report the case of a 17-year-old male who initially presented with a thyroid abscess. Due to persistent symptoms and lack of evidence for underlying predisposing factors, he was followed closely and subsequently diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer.

Prolonged Delayed Renal Graft Function Secondary to Venous Hypertension.

The case of a 39-year-old highly sensitized woman who underwent second renal transplantation after being on warfarin because of a history of frequent thromboses of her left femoral arteriovenous graft (AVG) is reported here. The patient received a flow cytometric positive crossmatch kidney transplant from a deceased donor. Her posttransplant course was complicated by prolonged delayed graft function (DGF) lasting for 9 months.

Recurrent multifocal cutaneous Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma: A rare vascular tumor of infancy and childhood.

Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is a locally aggressive vascular tumor of childhood although cases occurring in adulthood are also described. The features overlap with juvenile capillary hemangioma and Kaposi sarcoma. We report a rare case of recurrent, multifocal (nose and chin) cutaneous KHE initially occurring in a 3-year-old female child, uncomplicated by Kasabach-Merritt syndrome.

Ultrasound characteristics of the thyroid in children and adolescents with goiter: a single center experience.

Introduction: Autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) is a common cause of goiter in children, and sonographic changes have been reported in more than one-third at presentation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ultrasound (US) characteristics of the thyroid and the prevalence of thyroid nodules in children and adolescents presenting with goiter in the presence or absence of AIT.

Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of the US characteristics of 154 children and adolescents aged <18 years of age with goiter from July 2008 to December 2010.

Cutaneous angiosarcoma in chronic lymphedema: secondary to filariasis.

Cutaneous angiosarcoma is a very aggressive tumor with poor prognosis. We report a case of cutaneous angiosarcoma in a patient with elephantiasis. To the best of our knowledge, there are very few cases reported in the literature.

A simple slide test to assess erythrocyte aggregation in acute ST-elevated myocardial infarction and acute ischemic stroke: its prognostic significance.

Unlabelled: A simple slide test and image analysis were used to reveal the presence of an acute-phase response and to determine its intensity in subjects of acute myocardial infarction and acute ischemic stroke. Erythrocytes tend to aggregate during an inflammatory process. Evaluation of erythrocyte adhesiveness/aggregation is currently available to the clinicians indirectly by erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), but ESR correlates poorly with erythrocyte aggregation, hence a simple slide technique using citrated blood was used to evaluate erythrocyte aggregation microscopically and also by using image analysis.

A highly conserved human gene encoding a novel member of WD-repeat family of proteins (WDR13).

We have identified and characterized a novel member of the WD-repeat motif gene family, WDR13, which contains 9 exons and 8 introns. The gene has been mapped to the genomic locus Xp11.23 by fluorescent in situ hybridization and in silico mapping.
