: Among breast cancer molecular types, HER2 positive and triple negative (TN) subtypes have the highest likelihood of pathological complete response (pCR), which is a surrogate marker for reduced recurrence and improved patient survival after neoadjuvant systemic treatment (NST). Preoperative pathological identification of these exceptional responders is a new era. Therefore, we aimed to determine the accuracy of trucut biopsy in identifying the exceptional responders in selected molecular subtypes of breast cancer patients.

Background: The study aims to compare how 3 balance platform designs affect ankle muscle activation during various functional exercises, all performed on the dominant limb.

Methods: Fifteen healthy, active participants performed single-leg stance, single-leg squat, and forward lunge on BOSU® Ball, wobble board, stability trainer, and flat ground. Surface electromyography was used to measure Peroneus Longus, Tibialis Anterior, Gastrocnemius, and Soleus activation during these exercises on different platforms and flat ground.

Background: Adenoid tissue is a first-line host defense secondary lymphoid organ, especially in childhood. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is required to maintain balanced cellular activity. With impaired ER functions, protein accumulation occurs, resulting in ER stress, which plays a role in the etiopathogenesis of many diseases.

Objective: There is no consensus about the optimal frequency of patient visits during the rehabilitation program after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR). This study aimed to investigate the short- and long-term effects of high-frequency (HF) and low-frequency (LF) visits of the patients in the first 12 weeks of rehabilitation after ARCR.

Methods: This was a quasi-randomized study with 2 parallel groups.

Background: There is very limited information about the changes in shoulder kinematics in patients with reverse shoulder arthroplasty. The aim of the study was to investigate the changes in the scapulohumeral rhythm and shoulder kinematics over time after the reverse shoulder procedure.

Methods: Nineteen patients with reverse shoulder arthroplasty (age: 65.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the effectiveness of ustekinumab for treating enteropathic arthritis by reviewing cases from published literature from 2010 to 2021.
  • A total of 11 patients were evaluated, with all achieving remission for inflammatory bowel disease and 9 out of 11 for enteropathic arthritis following the treatment.
  • Results suggest that ustekinumab could be a suitable treatment option for patients with enteropathic arthritis, as it significantly addressed symptoms and extraintestinal issues.

Obtaining visual comfort, satisfaction and well-being in residential interiors are now becoming more important, especially in times of extreme events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. It also became important to collect users' evaluations and their own solutions for residential lighting in order to improve the current lighting conditions. For this aim, with a group of international and inter-disciplinary researchers, a comprehensive study was conducted.

Context: The study purpose was to compare the ankle muscle activation and dynamic ankle joint stability of subjects who underwent endoscopy-assisted Achilles tendon repair (ATR; at ≥ 2 y postsurgery) with age, gender, and activity level-matched healthy control group subjects.

Design: Prospective, cross-sectional study. All functional tests were performed on the involved ankle of the ATR group, and at the matched side of healthy age, gender, and activity-level control group subjects.

Objectives: Cochlear implant (CI) infection is the most common complication after CI surgery. We investigated whether the preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) values could predict the CI infection and the NLR and PLR values obtained at the first admission to the hospital with an CI infection could help the clinician in the diagnosis.

Methods: This retrospective case-controlled study included 26 patients with postsurgical CI infection.

This study aimed to present the first cochlear implant surgery performed on a patient with Patau syndrome. In the auditory brainstem Response test performed on the 37th month, I-III-V waves at 100 dB were not obtained in the right ear, while I-III-V waves at 90 dB were obtained in the left ear. In the free-field audiometry test done in the first year, the threshold value of cochlear implantation was found to be 45 dB.

Dietary exposure to mycotoxins is a matter of great concern in terms of public health and regulatory bodies worldwide. Contamination of meat products with mycotoxigenic fungi and production of aflatoxins (AFs), ochratoxin A (OTA) and other mycotoxins can occur at different points of the manufacturing steps, from farm to fork. Among all microorganisms, moulds (mycobiota) are groups of microorganisms that can contaminate dry-cured meats, so they may carry the risk of mycotoxicosis.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate primary Sjögren's syndrome patients in terms of hearing and vestibular functions.

Methods: The patient group consisted of 35 individuals diagnosed with primary Sjögren's syndrome and a control group of 35 healthy individuals similar in terms of age and gender.

Results: The rate of hearing loss in the patient group was significantly higher than in the control group ( = 0.

Although three-dimensional electromagnetic systems are widely used to evaluate the 3-dimensional scapular kinematics their reliability when testing bilateral upper extremity tasks is unknown. The purpose of this study was to investigate the repeatability of the scapular kinematic analyses using the Flock of Birds (FOB) system during bilateral upper extremity movements. Twenty-one volunteers without shoulder problems were included (aged 24.

Purpose: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the clinical, radiological and functional results of patients underwent single-tunnel (ST) and double-tunnel (DT) medial patellofemoral ligament(MPFL) reconstructions with hamstring autograft following recurrent patella dislocation prospectively in a single institution.

Methods: From 2013 to 2017, 80 patients with symptomatic recurrent patellar dislocation or instability were randomly divided into 2 groups for MPFL reconstruction with ST technique or DT technique and evaluated prospectively. In the ST group, there were 20 male and 20 female with a median follow-up of 46.

Background: Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction becomes first-choice surgical procedure for patients with a history of lateral patellar dislocations but there is limited knowledge about neuromuscular activation patterns of individuals with a history of patellar dislocation who underwent medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare muscle activation levels and knee valgus during step down performance test between individuals with a history of medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction and healthy individuals.

Methods: Fifteen individuals with medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction and 15 healthy individuals were included.

Purpose: Our study aimed to evaluate the effects of chronic hypoxic state in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) on brainstem pathways using Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) test and to investigate the presence of new markers likely to be correlated with the severity of the disease.

Methods: The study was planned as prospective and double blind. A total of 60 patients (120 ears) diagnosed with mild, moderate and severe OSAS were included in the study and the patients are grouped as 20 patients in each group.

Background: To analyze the association between obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and some hematological variables such as mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), and the impact of positive airway pressure (PAP) treatment on these parameters.

Methods: The participants of the present prospective study consist of 36 OSAS patients diagnosed with polysomnography and recommended PAP treatment and 30 healthy members as the control group. Complete blood analyses were conducted to the patient group twice; before the initiation of the PAP treatment and 1 month after regular PAP use.
