Myopericytoma arising from myopericytosis-a hitherto unrecognized entity within the lung.

Two cases of myopericytosis combined with pericytoma originating within the lung are reported. These are rare pulmonary tumors. The differential diagnosis for hemangiopericytoma and pericytic tumors with glomus elements is discussed.

Immune cell landscape in therapy-naïve squamous cell and adenocarcinomas of the lung.

Squamous cell and adenocarcinomas of the lung develop different mechanisms during carcinogenesis to evade attacks of the immune system. Besides the well-known check-point control programmed death 1 and its ligand, many more mechanisms, acting either tumoricidal or in favor of tumor progression, exist. Analysis of the immune cell profiles in resected tissues and bronchoalveolar lavage samples and correlation between them and with overall survival data was performed.

Pulmonary mucinous adenocarcinomas: architectural patterns in correlation with genetic changes, prognosis and survival.

Of pulmonary adenocarcinomas, about 25-30 % of cases is of a mucinous type. Mucinous adenocarcinomas are regarded as more aggressive compared to their non-mucinous counterparts. Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma, colloid, and enteric adenocarcinomas are variants within adenocarcinomas.

Prospective study of the association of serum gamma-glutamyltransferase with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia III and invasive cervical cancer.

Epidemiologic studies indicate that elevated levels of gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), a key enzyme of glutathione metabolism, might be associated with increased cancer risk. Furthermore, preclinical studies support a role for GGT in tumor invasion and progression. However, the relationship between GGT and risks of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia III (CIN-III) and invasive cervical cancer (ICC) have not been evaluated.

Lung osteoma--a new benign lung lesion.

Extraskeletal osteomas have not been described in the lung. Tumors with osseous elements can be found, such as hamartoma and amyloid tumor, and reactive lesions such as osseous metaplasia. A 39-year-old male patient was treated for multiple myeloma and got a bone marrow transplantation 2 years and a few months before he presented with a solitary well-circumscribed tumor in the right middle lobe.
