The aim of the present study was to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity of transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) and transbronchial catheter aspiration (TBCA) in addition to transbronchial forceps biopsy (TBB) at conventional bronchoscopy.
Methods: Eligible patients showing a PLL on computed tomography scans were included in the study.
In muscular dystrophies quantitative muscle MRI (qMRI) detects disease progression more sensitively than clinical scores. This prospective one year observational study compared qMRI with clinical scores in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) to investigate if qMRI can serve as a surrogate outcome measure in clinical trials. In 20 DMD patients the motor function measure (MFM) total and subscores (D1-D3) were done for physical examination, and the fat fraction (MFF) of thigh muscle qMRI was obtained using the two-point Dixon method.

Methods: Between January 1986 and June 2005, 275 patients with preoperative PSA> or =20 ng/ml underwent RP for pCA at our institution. Overall, disease-specific and biochemical progression-free survival rates for the entire cohort and for particular subgroups were determined.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTo simulate psychosis in rats we have developed a method for the continuous delivery of phencyclidine (PCP) using implantable controlled-release polymers. PCP polymer implants produced deficits in latent inhibition which do not occur after repeated bolus injections. PCP implanted rats were also devoid of any anxiogenic signs, motoric hyperactivity and learning acquisition which can be seen in rats receiving daily bolus injections of a comparable PCP dose.
