The plant hormone jasmonic acid (JA) is a signalling compound involved in the regulation of cellular defence and development in plants. In this study, we investigated the roles of a JA-responsive MYB transcription factor, JMTF1, in the JA-regulated defence response against rice bacterial blight caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo).

The same coupling gave allylic alcohol 3 under reductive conditions in the presence of a silane and a catalytic amount of BuSnClH. This catalytic protocol was applied to the synthesis of lactone 4.

The aim of the present study was to elucidate the properties of language and drawing ability and cerebral perfusion in PD patients after bilateral STN DBS surgery.
Methods: Western aphasia battery, including drawing as a subcategory, and perfusion (N-isopropyl-p-[I] iodoamphetamine) SPECT scan was conducted in 21 consecutive PD patients, before, and three to six months after, bilateral STN DBS surgery while on stimulation.
In order to study airborne bacterial community dynamics over Tokyo, including fine-scale correlations between airborne microorganisms and meteorological conditions, and the influence of local versus long-range transport of microbes, air samples were collected on filters for periods ranging from 48 to 72 h. The diversity of the microbial community was assessed by next generation sequencing. Predicted source regions of airborne particles, from back trajectory analyses, changed abruptly from the Pacific Ocean to the Eurasian Continent in the beginning of October.

In this study, we investigated the role of the JA-responsive valine-glutamine (VQ)-motif-containing protein OsVQ13 in JA signaling in rice. OsVQ13 was primarily located in the nucleus and cytoplasm.

Jasmonate ZIM-domain (JAZ) proteins act as transcriptional repressors of plant responses to JA. In this study, we found that OsNINJA1, which is a JAZ-interacting adaptor protein, plays an important role in JA signaling that is positively regulated by the transcription factor OsMYC2 in rice.

Adrenal hematoma is a rare yet potentially life-threatening event that occurs both in traumatic conditions and in a variety of nontraumatic conditions. In the present study, we report the two cases with idiopathic unilateral adrenal hematoma. Case 1 involved a 72-year-old man who was complaining of upper abdominal pain.

OsMYC2, a transcription factor (TF), acts as a positive regulator of jasmonic acid (JA) signaling involved in development and defense in rice. Here, we report that OsMYC2 plays an important role in leaf senescence under dark-induced senescence (DIS) conditions.

Improvement of hypoadiponectinemia is considered to be a useful therapeutic approach for ameliorating fatal conditions including cardio-metabolic and infectious disease. We investigated the effects of PDF in comparison to PE in terms of plasma adiponectin (APN) changes in patients with acute liver failure.

Background: Unilateral retinitis pigmentosa is a retinal dystrophy affecting only one eye, the fellow eye being affected neither functionally nor in fundus appearance. There are relatively few cases of unilateral retinitis pigmentosa being followed for more than 5 years.
Case: An 18-year-old woman complaining of blurred vision of left eye was found to have left visual field concentric contraction.
We previously identified an intermediate β(2)-microglobulin (I-β(2) m), which is an amyloidogenic β(2) m variant, via capillary electrophoresis (CE) and reported hemodialysis (HD)-associated variations in the serum concentrations of each β(2) m component, including that found in the rebound phase. Recent research has indicated that I-β(2) m can bind, via the SO(3)(-) moiety, with glycosaminoglycan or proteoglycan, which are major components of interstitial tissue. Because alterations in I-β(2) m are likely to be important in view of the possible accumulation of amyloidogenic precursor proteins in the interstitial space, we studied the I-β(2) m profile as related to HD.
